Not too happy with my experience here. I signed up for personal training looking to build a more symmetrical chest. I made this clear multiple times. Thinking this would be top priority because I'm paying $600/mo -- I was dead wrong. The first red flag happened during sign ups. I learned we don't work with the same trainer each time. It varies depending on your schedule. I could only do evenings but I was told they track our progress and it won't be an issue for whatever trainer we get. The second red flag happened during measurements. Hoping my chest would be thoroughly examined so they can see what they're dealing with and how to approach it, it was measured as a whole instead. Had it been measured separately, they would've been able to tell that one pec is much bigger and developed than the other. I wondered how they were going to approach this, considering measurements were taken and no game plan was introduced. Day 1 of training, the trainer tells me we are doing abs and cardio. I immediately made sure to make my intentions clear, once again, that I was there to build a more even chest. He asked me what was the overall goal, referring to weight gain, strength, etc. I told him weight gain, assuming building a symmetrical chest wasn't a good enough answer. Instead of adjusting the workout to address my needs, we continued with abs and cardio for the day, which lasted only 25 minutes. That was the 3rd red flag. This was it for me. I knew at this pace I wouldn't get what I came there for. I refused to pay $2700 for this. Thankfully, I was able to cancel in time (within the 3 days). I hope the GM, Kevin, can clean this program up. The training program isn't put together well at all. It's all over the place. If someone is paying that much for training, there needs to be an examination, measurements, nutrition plan, and a game plan focused on the customer's needs with their progress...

As far as cancelling:
I don't personally feel safe returning to the gym at this time since I help care for an at-risk family member. Anticipating that PA would allow gyms to reopen, I submitted a cancellation letter about a month before our green phase went into effect. A couple of weeks later, I submitted a second copy, as well as followed up via email and telephone, both of which received no response. While they could not respond to my inquiries for cancellation, I DID get an email from LA fitness outlining their opening procedure, how they would pro rate my charges, etc.
Seeing that there was no other option to not be charged as soon as LA opened, I called my CC company to stop payment.
Wouldn't you know it, a couple of weeks later (today) I get a call from the billing dept, saying they couldn't charge my card. i explain the situation, and that I cannot return to the gym since I have an at-risk family member. Their official response? "Go to the club before 2pm mo-fri to discuss your account with the operations manager"
Certainly sounds like safety is the...
Read moreI have been coming here for several years now and I feel each year is worse than the last. The place consistently feels dirty and grimy. Aside from a select few; the majority of the staff cares more about themselves, hanging out with their friends, and/or being on/posting on social media than taking care of the establishment and the members. Even more recently, the night staff has been in rude and such a rush to push members out of the building that they start a countdown. The night staff (in addition to what is already posted on the TVs) announce on the PA system every 5/10 minutes (for the last 45 minutes) that the gym will be closing And that people will need to leave. Which most of the members find annoying and redundant as they are trying to finish their workouts. I have joined other gyms in the area which are much better (and the staff more welcoming). The only reason why I still come is because it is one of the only gyms in the area with a sauna (which isn’t even the best and not always working). If you don’t need a sauna or a pool I would join a different gym...
