HomeGoods — Local services in Montgomery Township

I like the wide selection and inventory in this store. I do NOT, however, advise purchasing large items from this store. We bought an outdoor dining set. Our purchase was brought to the back for storage, which is apparently in a tiny office area. The store has no loading dock or rear entrance, so to pick up our set, my husband and a staff member had to precariously carry the table through aisles of glassware and other fragile items. Also, in this process, the piece that covers the umbrella hole in the table was lost, and I saw it before we purchased. This may sound petty, but when you spend $1500 on an item, you have reason to expect to receive all pieces, undamaged. I called the store to retrieve the piece when I noticed it missing as soon as we got home. I was promised a return phone call which never came.

Also, we're still waiting on a return call from the third-party mover who the store works with. They also never called back. In the meantime, we rented a U-Haul and picked it up ourselves for less money than what we were quoted anyhow.

Overall, the staff was friendly and helpful aside from the lack of a return phone call.

HomeGoods called today after two weeks. The manager who we initially worked with said she had found the piece outside the store, and said we could pick it up at our convenience. I’m giving them 4 stars due to the clutter of the store. I’m aware that this chain is the same as HomeSense but for some reason it seems to be a bit more cluttered which makes walking around the store with a shopping cart is really bad. I’m always afraid of going down the aisle or turning and breaking something. Selection of everything is abundant for seasonal items. Everything is always beautiful but you really have to dig carefully. Prices are extremely great so if you like something, I recommend grabbing it before someone else grabs it. Layout of the floor is fine just managing the items for each aisle needs improvement. I’m sure a bigger space would just raise the prices. Staff is friendly and very helpful if you ask for assistance. Checkout lanes are ample according to peak and non peak hours. Overall I would recommend this location for how much beautiful items...

There's plenty of staff but not much in the way of management. Nearly every register was staffed with at least 5 employees walking around behind those staff yet we were made to stand and wait for at least 20 minutes because an item was not priced and it was the last one on the shelf. Two men stood there and gawked at us when low and behold one of those gawkers was the manager who makes decisions! So tell me why "Dave" stood there and stared at us and allowed us to wait that long when he could have stepped in right away at any time? Piss poor customer service. Not to mention they still charged us over 20$ for a broken item. Is that what they call a discount??? I call that...
