First time player at Elysian, but actor/performer for decades. So the easy part of this review is that if you’re a patron of the product they deliver, you’re in for a fantastic experience. However, it’s how we get to that point that you really need to know about. The directors and choreographers genuinely care about us as people and family. Love is the first ingredient in each performance. That love continues to the script as well. We are taught not just to read our character, we are encouraged to BE our character, to feel their emotions. Elysian is a wonderful group of people who love their community. They welcome all people, from all walks of life and backgrounds. We were introduced to them with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. We had lots of friends in it. It was amazing! Since then they have grown and put on some great works. They brought Shakespeare back to Carteret County, and brought it back well. I am not only excited to be onstage with them, but to be able to sit in the audience or to work backstage or front of house. There is always a place for everyone with them. This is one of the best places for two reasons. One they care about the kids and families that are involved in the shows. They go the extra mile to put on a show that is top notch. They will blow your minds at the talent that is found here local. I would encourage you to go to a show. Buy your tickets early because the shows sell out. I promise you it will be one you will talk about for days and months to come. The cast work their butts off to put on a show and will even stay around to take pictures with you.
