We purchased what we believed to be a beautiful antique hutch for $3,000 and arranged delivery through the shipping company regularly used and recommended by this store. Being new to town, we trusted their advice and went with their movers. On the scheduled delivery date, we were shocked to learn from the store’s own staff that their movers refused to handle the piece out of concern it would fall apart during transport. Instead of working toward a fair resolution, the store owner became defensive and insisted we still owned the item and that no refund would be given—even though her own team acknowledged the problem. We made a simple, reasonable request: either deliver the piece safely or issue a full store credit. Instead, the owner threatened to charge us a 25%+ restocking fee—on an item that never left her store. That makes absolutely no sense. Thankfully, because the purchase was made with my Apple Card, I was able to file a dispute to protect us from this unfair treatment. We truly love the store’s inventory and would have liked to continue shopping here, but after such an experience, I would urge others to be very cautious with larger purchases. Unreasonable!
*Updated Response: First I rounded up the price to factor in delivery charges, excuse the lack of detail. It was our move in date that this item was to be picked up & delivered to our home, same day. When we were notified that the item was undeliverable due to fragility by the shop owners recommended movers, we were so sad, as we had complete fallen in love with this beautiful antique piece. We are avid antique collectors. I would have thought that the shop would only recommend movers equipped to move antiques. They were certainly notified of what the item was as we had to tell them dimensions. Obviously we were not there for the item pickup, as we were moving into our home. So I cannot speak to the movers knowing nothing nor leaving things in disarray. I’m sure that was not acceptable & I too, would have not worked with them again. We were told by the movers that the piece could not survive moving without breaking & the movers refused to transport the item. The store owner informed her employees to translate on her behalf as she was indeed, out of town. Their offer was they would fix the item (there in admitting to it’s fragility) & deliver it. Or give us store credit minus the 25% restocking fee for an item that never moved an inch. We had asked for FULL store credit OR a refund to our credit card minus a 20% restocking fee. We were denied both & instead only offered store credit minus an additional 25% restocking fee, for an item that was never moved. We were happy to take either of these offers but were simply told no, so we asked our credit card to step in.
And yes, the return policy is printed on receipts. Obviously with such an extenuating circumstances, we would have thought a mutual agreement could be found. We’re still open to a resolution of full store credit OR 25% restock fee with a refund of the balance. This seems reasonable & standard practice & a fair resolution on both sides. We have always shopped local & love supporting small business. I have never left a bad review before. And as stated, I still very much love your store & would like to continue supporting it. But we needed a resolution suitable for both of us. You have our emails & our numbers, you are more the welcome to reach out if a mutual agreement...
Read moreToday was my second time in this store. A few months ago I went in with a friend and not one person spoke to us or glanced in our direction. That's fine. Everybody has an off day and their clothes were very cute. We tried some on but they were out of our sizes that day. I spotted some glassware I loved. Today I went back and sadly, the glasses were gone. Nobody greeted me or spoke to me in the home store. We went to the clothing part and all I received were glares like I was a huge inconvenience walking in. There were at least 3 ladies working today if not more. Not one of them could muster up a "Welcome" or "How can I help you." Had anybody given me the time of day, I am certain we would have both walked away happy. I love to shop local but I am not willing to give my money to a shop that seems like the customer walking in is less than worthy of a glance. That will be the last time I...
Read moreI saw the store as I was leaving a residence and liked it’s look. I am not from mt pleasant but just wanted to check it out. Absolutely the most amazing stuff especially clothes and shoes and handbags and linens etc. I have not been shopping in many many years that I actually loved the style entirely. I’m someone who loves different unusual stylish and wow it’s on. I was so overwhelmed I decided to tone it down and just breath. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to afford many of the liked items but it is a super nice place and nice staff. I did buy something though as it’s a appreciation for it being there. Hope to go and shop there...
