Just your average busy strip mall on the corner of Highway 20 and Highway 31. The property originally was the former home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. A developer bought it from the diocese in the 90's and it eventually became what it is today. There has been a considerable turnover of grocery stores (being part of the anchors) over the years. Chicago based Jewel-Osco was the first to open but closed shortly after the Walmart Supercenter opening. Sentry opened in its place and faired well until Walmart opened a smaller Market grocery store directly across the street. Employee owned Festival Foods is now the grocery anchor and seems to be doing well. The other major anchor that has been open since Village Center opened is Kohl's. ย ย ย Read moreFestival Foods is my favorite grocery store. You smell whatever is baking in the bakery upon entering. You feel like you're walking into a home... the produce is top notch as is the deli area. I'm so glad the hot spot is back open. There are booths to sit down and enjoy a lunch (fill your belly so you aren't shopping hungry! ๐). The prices are fair and the specials a very good. Most stores have a full service US Postal Service store at their service desk - you can drop prepaid pkgs, buy stamps and mail all kinds of packages. International may or may not be available - not sure. It is such a pleasant atmosphere and the employees are always so helpful, I will drive out of my way past Pick N Save...

Also has a great liquor department. My husband drinks Crown Royal, and a year ago, we moved to Mississippi, where he pays on average 55 dollars for a handle of Crown. While we were shopping, we noticed that Crown Royal was on sale for $40.99. So we decided to buy 6 bottles. They had to go into the stock room to get it but were very nice about it and seemed happy for the sale. Oh! And we love the deli department!! The presentation is great as is the freshness of the food. I wish there was a festival...
