This harbor freight feels like a "budget/discount" harbor freight.
I have been going to the one in Bellingham for years even though its a 30+ minute drive farther. Now that this one is open I had hoped saving myself that trip. Not so, usually. In most cases, things I would buy that are regularly stocked in Bellingham are not even in stock in the Mount Vernon store - that is, they do not even have a spot on the shelf to carry those items.
Invariably I find myself trekking to the Bellingham store instead. It's a shame they went through all the trouble to open a HF here only to have it be a shadow of the other HF stores I have frequented over the years. Suffice to say, If I need something "now" I will go to Bellingham, or pay a premium at another local store, since this new HF likely will not have it. If I can wait, I will just order from someone else online for the same or cheaper, rather than waste a trip into the Mount Vernon location only to find they don't actually have what all the other stores in the region actually keep in stock.
A slightly minor complaint - No issue with the dual language signage in the store, in fact quite a welcome addition. However its super frustrating that on the front of the signs they ONLY show english, and on the rear they ONLY show spanish. This is unhelpful both to english AND spanish speakers who are alternately at the back or front of the store. What a pain in the butt having to walk back to the front of the store just to know what aisle is which...
NOT that it really matters much I guess, as there isn't much IN those aisles worth sticking around and looking for as compared to the Bellingham...

I shop at Harbor Freight about every other week. The prices are right on ok products that usually take care of my needs. On 7/26/19, I was getting ready to pay and the kid with the French last name was talking to me like I was some kind of “booger face” toddler. At the same time, a female customer was having a heated conversation with a guy who claimed to be the manager, until she told him she had a problem. Suddenly he’s not the manager, and then, he doesn’t know where the manager is. I returned 7/27/19 to pick up 2 things, one for me and another for my friend and the girl (no name tag) was acting as if she was bothered that I was there. No greeting, no smile, and when I asked to pay for a transaction separately, she acted as if I stole her lunch and ate it. When the transactions were completed, I picked up my items and left, she never looked at me, she said nothing, no thank you, no.....nothing. This is exactly what I won’t allow at the business that I run, and it is the attitude that kills businesses. I returned it, and found a dual power Bauer pump display in the store, but all sold out. Store manager Tim help me to call around, tried lto ocate one for me, no luck. It took more than a month, finally I got one in this store by help of Tim. The pump works well, the feature of battery operation helps me a lot. Thank you, Tim and all the representatives in his team.
In 05/24/ 22, I brought my dream 3 in 1, 20 V, Bauer trimmer, fantastic, I am very happy to have it. For my happiness, I need to thank Mount Vernon Harbor Fright Tool store manager Tim, store staffs Jim, Honiara, Terry…..,they are customer oriented, give our islander( San Juan Islands) extra help. Bauer tools are excellent, 9 months ago, I bought the pump, it gave me satisfied result. I am looking forward to use my new tool, and send you my review later One more thing I need to mention is, after I got my cordless string trimmer, too happy to return home to try it, but forgot my iPad in the parking lot plush car.
