Taqueria La Bamba — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

Horrible service!!! I ordered food to go, told her that last time i ordered a burrito to go and went home and there was no sour cream on it. I said please make sure that there is sour cream on it this time. I said thank you. I even tipped them on a order to go. Sat down and waited. 30 minutes later still no food. I noticed that there was a couple of gentleman that sat down to be waited on. 15 minutes later they get up and asked do they have to order up front. 15 minutes later their food came before mine. So I asked the girl how much longer is my food going to be. Then she hands me my food. My food was sitting on the counter for who knows how long. Then I look and make sure my food was in the bag correct, and guess what food was incorrect and no sour cream!!! So I then tell the lady and it was like I inconvenienced her. Meanwhile ladies in the back laughing away cooking. They demanded the 3 incorrect tacos of asada back to give me 3 tacos of lengua. I told her that I actually already touched the meat out of the tacos to make sure it was tongue. They still demanded them back. So after waiting about 45 min for 6 tacos total 3 asada and 3 tongue and 1 burrito, you would think they would say , I'm sorry for the inconvenience of the mess up of the food just keep those too. ( i hope they didnt give those tacos to someone else aftera my fingers were in it.) A family of 5 waited at the counter about 10 minutes and finally got tired of waiting for them to take their order so they left. I will never go back to this place. It use to be my favorite place to eat when the actual owners worked there. Sorry but sometimes people need to hear the truth so they...

I like to eat street tacos when I am in the mood for some Mexican food. So naturally that's what I ordered here and was not disappointed. As of writing this review I have ordered their tacos twice and both times the tacos tasted the same which shows a high level of consistency. That's a great thing when you find a menu item that you know you'll specifically go back to that location for over and over. Their portions are suitable for a man with an appetite, so if you're looking for that big meal they got what you're looking for. They'll bring four sauces to your table each with varying degrees of spiciness ranging from mild to hot (and yes the hot is hot so if you're a spice lover you'll get what you need from the oil). The sauces are flavorful, not knock your socks off great but will compliment your food nicely.

Be aware you will order your food first thing at the counter before you sit down and then they'll bring it to your table. So I would suggest taking a look at their menu on here before going so you're not that awkward looking person standing there looking up at the menu.

Their food only gets a 4 star from me because I haven't tried anything else on their menu. If they only did street tacos. It would be a 5. Maybe someday I will try something else from the large menu.

4 star service just because I appreciate full table service but the young lady working the front was polite and attentive.

I consider myself to be a bit of a Mexican food snob. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants in the past. This one is easily in the top five. It's like a taco truck, but a few steps above, and I LOVE taco trucks.

You can't go wrong with a classic beef burrito. But I love their beef hurraches as well. The food is delicious, but if you can't handle spicy, go EASY on the salsas, and use lots of sour cream. Otherwise, this food will burn your mouth off. As most reviews say, this place is pretty simple. Not fancy. It's definitely not a four-star, suit and tie dinner, but hey, $20 will feed two people. Nothing wrong with that. And the atmosphere is fun. The service there is usually very good. I went in there once and it was packed. There was only one lady waitressing and working the counter, both. And yet she still gave me excellent service.

My only complaint is their usually out of horchata when I'm there. That's a bit of a disappointment.

However, I do like that they're open late (till 10:30) most nights.
