I hate leaving bad reviews, but I'm super bummed out with my last experience with them, after going here so many times over the last ten years. I've ordered the same dish each time. This time I ordered take-out....Kung Pao Tofu, it's always so delicious! It has peanuts, and the dried peppers I like to munch on and the crunchy veggies. I also bought my mom and her friend lunch for her birthday. It was an $80+ order. Kung Pao Tofu had no peanuts, or peppers ... and an ungodly amount of mushrooms which I hate -- it was a completely different dish. The flavor was ok but not the same dish I've gotten the last 20 plus times I've ordered it.... We also ordered a cup of soup that we didnt receive.
I called them and calmly explained the situation, and was immediately met with hostility and defensiveness.... and pure lies! "I've worked here over 20 years and there's always mushrooms in the Kung Pao Tofu..." really... why would I order that if I despise mushrooms so much? It even states the ingredients on your website and there's a picture of the Kung Pao Chicken with NO mushrooms, and with the peppers & peanuts. I'd assume it would be the same dish but with Tofu? When I mentioned the soup, he said I could come back for it, but being we were in Burlington I didnt think it was worth the trip for a tiny cup of soup, so he immediately hung up on me after that. Wish he listened instead of being rude, now I won't be going back. If he had just tried to have a little bit of customer service ... even acknowleged my concern? ... I would have been so willing to work with them. Used to love it there. Have taken friends and family there to eat many times. Wish you guys luck in the future. Hope you do better. Seems like after 20 years, maybe you dont...
Read moreThe food was okay, and in fact despite the annoying (to me; may be to your taste) Christian radio being played over the speakers, I was having an all right time... until the check came.
Apparently their idea of upcharging for a larger size (bowl instead of cup) of soup that comes with a dinner combo is to write in that you asked for no soup with said combo (but charge the same price), and then charge full price for the bowl of soup.
When asked, they said that's just how it's done, and that they don't set the prices; I then had to become aggressive in asking for somebody that does in order to have the manager come out and explain. When he did, he was very defensive, wouldn't budge, and started saying things about how you wouldn't ask for, say, "no onions" and ask for a lower price.
Funny part is the food here is so godawfully expensive for the quality that, had they just allowed me to pay the difference between a cup of soup that I normally would have gotten anyway and the bowl I was provided, they'd have gotten more money in tips from me, and kept my patronage.
Guess I'm not sure what I was expecting from a restaurant that's attached to a bowling alley, neighboring a dirty looking RV park.
At least the egg flower soup in question was nice and hot, tasted reasonable, and the size of bowl was larger than expected, so there's that. Either way, I likely won't be returning, which is a shame; I love egg...
Read moreFood was good, right up until the time I found a hair in it.
As one does, it was pointed out to the staff and they offered to remake it. Perfect.
Well once in the back in the kitchen, I heard them talking about how I put it in the food.
When the bartender came back to the counter, I told him I didn't put hair in my food and he apologized.
We went back to our lanes and continued bowling. A different person brought the remade food out and was very rude. He said he will, "do it this time, but none of his staff have brown hair so you obviously did something, but I'm not accusing you." What?
He then went onto say that he's tired of "people pulling this stuff to get free food."
We never asked for a refund or anything free... we simply asked that the tofu portion be remade.
Of course I did not eat the replacement because God only knows what he did to it...
But he didn't even apologize or anything. He just accused us of doing something to the food then acting like he was doing us some huge favor by rectifying the situation.
The bowling alley is a blast... but the Chinese restaurant has some work to do. Luckily the...
