J.C.'s Pawnshop, Inc. — Local services in Mount Vernon

I've been a customer ofJ.Cs for over 5 years. I drive from Bellingham despite the many choices of pawn/loan shops in my area. The owners are great people as well as the other (2, I think?) employees. They are personable, professional, and always a pleasure to do business with. More than I appreciate the "down home", relaxed environment of the store, I have to say that my most recent visit to J.Cs absolutely touched my ❤️ heart. I can't say enough about how genuinely good people the owners are...they worked with me so that I could pay for my loans. Compassion and business do not go hand-in-hand much anymore, but here, at J.Cs, I was treated with compassion and understanding, with ongoing communication, (of course.) The most fair loans/terms and a great selection of jewelry, instruments, lots of leather, and lots of electronics. Fair prices, and one more important thing... These folks have great senses of humor & you can always count on smiles, respect, & a joke or two!😃...

Its really a shame that one star has to be given to leave a review bc I cant offer one star worthy part of our experience. We were in the area and saw the good reviews on this site and can only assume it's friends or family leaving them. We brought in 1 of the 4 small industrial fans in the car and told the grumpy unfriendly man behind the counter and the response was, without looking up...."No!" Not wanting them is fine but acting like our business is an inconvenience, not saying "I'm sorry but...." or explain things that they were interested in, showing general common business etiquette would be a good start. We had a $4k Spectra Precision Pipe Laser in the car that we were going to bring in next and decided why would we!? We felt like an annoyance. It worked out for the best, found a store that actually had money and wanted business....

The shop is clean and organized but don't offer jack for what you bring in to sell or pawn. I was in on a prior trip and asked what how much they typically give for a certain type of product they sell, came in the next day and he offered me a 1/4 of what he told me the day before. Seem to be dishonest bait and switch types..too bad because its a decent looking store with good looking merchandise but I would steer clear.

In response to the Owner: the items were in excellent condition, near mint and it was clarified what I was interested in bringing in. I certainly would not have wasted my time knowing that the shops real offer would have been 1/4 of what I was told the day before. I understand it based on actual inspection but the items like I said were near mint and the shops offer was well below what I was told is...
