After reading all the great reviews I decided to use Jamesā to resize my wifeās new engagement ring. Our experience wasnāt as wonderful as others. When we dropped the ring off we were given a date to pick up the ring, around two weeks out. On the day I was supposed to pickup the ring I get a call and they tell me the ring wouldnāt be ready for another two weeks. A week and half went by and we receive another call. This time the lady tells me to ring maybe be fake. It was stamped Platinum and 18K and the diamond appeared to have been created in a lab and the jeweler said if he heated it up to make the adjustments it may damage it. So I had to tell my wife the very disappointing news. After pickup the ring I placed it under a magnify glass. There was two stamps. One PT950 and the other DSK, clearly visible under the magnify glass. So I took the ring to a high end jewelry store in Louisville David jewelry. When I dropped it off I asked the jeweler to verify the stamps and asked if he could see any issues with the diamond, he confirmed the stamps and said the diamond looks good. It was quite upsetting when I had to tell my wife of 7 years the engagement ring I could finally afford maybe fake. Iām not sure if the Jeweler at Jamesā lied because he was afraid of damaging the ring due to lack of experience. If this was the case they should have just been honest, instead telling someone their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently took my diamond engagement ring to James Jewels for an insurance appraisal. The process took about a week, and the ring was appraised at just over $4,000. Most concerning was the reportās claim that all stones were moissanite implying they were not genuine diamonds. This was alarming, as the ring was originally purchased approximately 18 years ago with documentation confirming it was real diamonds. To confirm the authenticity, I had the ring evaluated by Staples jewelry and Gumerās. Gumerās certified appraisal verified that the ring is indeed composed of entirely genuine diamonds with an updated appraised value of approximately 14,900. Following this, my husband contacted James Jewel to report the significant discrepancy. Unfortunately, he was giving little explanation as to how such a substantial error could have occurred. We requested a refund for both their inaccurate appraisal and the second appraisal we had to obtain to verify the rings authenticity. When I went to pick up the refund, I was handed a check that covered only the cost of James Jewels appraisal. He did not come out to explain how a ring with all natural diamonds could have been so significantly undervalued or misidentified as man-made. Based on this experience, I would not trust James Jewels to perform an accurate appraisal, whether due to lack of proper knowledge or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have changed my review to a āFIVE STARSā. They have helped me sooo much over the last few years. Helping with joyous and some somber occasions. The staff are wonderful and are friendly and are always available and happy to offer suggestions. They have helped with special order pieces of jewelry , and small repairs and every time I walk away with a smile. James Jewel Box has been a go to favorite of mine for Pandora gifts or knick knacks for a special occasion. I have been satisfied with the friendly service and small town feel when shopping here. They carry fine jewelry and nice costume jewelry pieces. I have purchased several really nice bags and purses for my bride as well as nice pandora jewelry, scarves, Willow statues etc. The staff I believe are mostly all related except for. few local hires. They do repair of jewelry onsite and are good and reliable and honor their work. They are located in the small strip shopping mall at the corner of Bardstown road and HWY. 44. Next door is a Great Clips and an AT&T cellular store. I very much recommend James Jewel Box for your local or...
