I usually only leave positive reviews, but I 100% got scammed here. You have to go through the store to see the falls and there are signs that tell you that. There is no obvious signage in or around the store to indicate there is a charge to see the falls. I went into the store by myself and was the only one in there on a Wednesday morning. There were two employees working who both saw me walk in and greeted me. I walked around the store for several minutes and neither employee advised me of charge to see the falls. I walked out of the back door of the store because there were more gifts out there, most likely to bait people onto the trail. I then saw a trail and followed it the few hundred feet up to the falls. Again, there were no signs that said “pay here” or “stop.” I returned to the store about five minutes later and realized that I had that I was being corralled back through the store in order to get to the parking lot. Was informed by the same employee that greeted me 10 minutes prior there was a charge to see the falls and that I must pay it. Consumers of services have a right to know what the charge is for something BEFORE they do it and that was most definitely not my experience here. I paid the fine but I should’ve just walked out because of the way that was handled. Couldn’t tell you the name of it but I am certain this is some kind of consumer law violation in the state...
Read moreI don't understand all of the negative reviews because you have to pay to get in. This is a beautiful falls. An especially great stop if you have smaller kiddos who would enjoy a waterfall, but might not like a hike to get to the more rustic ones. They gave my two year old daughter a gnome hat to wear while we searched for gnomes on the grounds and presented her with a prize for finding gnomes. A fun activity for sure. She took the hat so seriously that it became her 'waterfall' hat and she wore it to all of the other waterfall sites that we visited. This is a smaller park and has nice paths, so also great for anyone with limited mobility or stamina to see a really nice falls. They have ample parking that you don't have to go off-roading like some of the other waterfalls. Please don't complain about paying an admission fee (in fact, the other parks should be charging too!). The owners have done a very nice job of making improvements here and you can see they invest the profits into keeping a top-notch facility. Bonus - there is a gift shop and ICE CREAM! There is definitely room for both the rustic falls in Munising and this easily-accessible, ...
Read moreIt really is a beautiful waterfall but it’s a total rip off. You pay $10 a person to see a waterfall not unlike the 15 other waterfalls in the area that are free. There were silly signs everywhere you look telling you what you can’t do. I don’t mind a sign or two remaining people “you break it you buy it” and “leave nature the way you find it” but the owners took it to a whole new level. They may want to look up a bit on reactance theory. The “botanical garden” is just a bunch of normal or dying and untended trees with google facts attached. Some were literally just trees with a label stabled to them. You also have to pay to use the bathroom which I get, but there were at least 10 signs in the bathroom basically just telling you to be respectful while they just rest the cheapest toilet paper they could buy on the dirty cement floor without a toilet paper holder. It’s really hard to be respectful when your not treated with that...
