They did not honor my reservation and it is my fault and the booking agents fault. I was given literally half of the room of my reservation (my daughter & I would of had to shimmy sideways in & out of the bathroom: while squatting over the toilet if we needed to use this luxury)! When I went back to the front desk to make them aware, there was nothing they could do! The 1st lady offered to call around to "assist" in finding a room, after 3 calls which appeared to all have "no vacancies", I went to my car to find something myself, which I did! Then I have to return to the desk to pick up my refund, which I had already asked for (before all phone calls).
It is more than worth noting*not once did the lady state the room size I was suppose to recieved or was looking for, what was mentioned on 1 of the calls, "here's the thing, there was a booking site used and...." quickly turned into no vacancies.
After I re-find accommodations, the 2nd lady at the desk, repeatedly informed me of how this is my fault for not contacting the motel directly and the booking agents fault for not supplying the right information. Which interestingly enough was well displayed on all email confirmations I had recieved (including the email I received directly from this Motel), and no interest in looking at it, it didn't matter.
It is also again more than worth noting: as we drove around we saw 7 different hotel/motels clearly displayed "vacancies". I do not know what they had available, but WOW. All within about 10 min drive.
This was just wrong on every level, the oh well sentiment from this business, as well as the blame game was enough......but the fact that this was more about money and room rates (which even my daughter caught on to, quickly); let alone watching a business become a "victim" of the booking agent, which they clearly have no option whether to participate in or not, was really just mind-blowing! I mean really what do you say to that, you join a booking agent to drive customers traffic to you but you are just a unwilling participants?
Thanks for wasting my time, money, and energy. I will spread the word.
As we were eating dinner at a local restaurant discussing this issue, a family at another table told us that they had had a similar experience gossip, maybe but the other family named the motel before we had.
**while this was all enough to lose my business, as a mom standing in the lobby of a motel with my 17 year old daughter, and being referred to as a "couple", was really just the cherry on top. Just in case you missed it, we are a family not a couple. This was not a "I'm looking for a room for a couple for ladies. ...it was "I have a couple looking for a room"....while we all miss speak at times, or use wrong words. Really? It more than...
Read moreLordy…don’t do it! ||It case that wasn’t clear…DO NOT STAY IN THIS MOTEL!||||Our “suite” (room 33) was just nasty.||||Wouldn’t cook in the kitchen even if we could. Couldn’t open the cupboard with the pans…blocked by the baseboard heat. No oven mitt. Lid fell off trash can (cause it’s broken). No dish cloth/sponge/dish towel. Asked for dish cloth and towel and was given a washcloth and bath towel to use. Stove top was gross. Slices in kitchen floor linoleum. ||||Oh, the bed was comfortable. One bedside table with one drawer which was stuffed with a giant 1990’s style alarm clock and not one but TWO bibles. No room for our stuff. One dresser with three drawers for two people for ten days. No bedside lamp. Walls not painted all the way to the floor…and not cause they’re artsy or anything. ||||Plan ahead and sit in the middle of the couch ‘cause that’s where you’ll end up anyway when you sit down. One stuffed chair in the corner. The living room smoke detector is attached to the WALL not the ceiling so God forbid we have a fire…oh, maybe that’s what the SECOND bible is for…ward off fires! There WAS a smoke alarm on the ceiling but now there are just wires hanging down. If you plan to hang any clothes you need to go to the office and ask for hangers. They didn’t tell me that when I checked in…I just went in search of them and was told they kept getting stolen so they don’t leave them in the room. I bring this up during the “living room” section because THAT is where the rod is to hang your clothes. I know, I didn’t see that coming, either!||||The shower head is not really connected to the wall…not that it’s THAT important because there was only enough hot water for one shower. There is mold on the ceiling over said shower and the curtain rod is missing half of its coating. ||||Munising is a wonderful little town but do yourselves a favor…stay...
Read moreWe stayed in the two room queen bed unit (#31).||The good: Staff were super helpful and friendly. They would do just about anything you asked with a smile. The kitchen, stove, fridge, microwave, TV, in-room AC unit all worked just fine. With unit #31, you're right by the road, but it's not that noticeable with the windows closed. Shower water pressure was good and water was plenty hot. Beds were comfortable, but mattresses should be replaced soon.||The not-so-good: Upon walking in, you immediately notice that the floors are slanted. Many of the window screens were either torn or cut. Most of the faucets leaked (dripped) unless you found the sweet spot with the handle to stop all water flow.||The bad: The bathroom needs a deep cleaning. The bathroom ceiling vent/fan had years of caked who-knows-what in it. Some electrical outlets were missing wall plates (safety hazard).||Overall: This would be a 2-star review had it not been for the exceptional staff and their willingness to help. The price is high, but so are many other places in Munising in the height of tourist season. When chain hotels are charging almost $400/night for a room (with no kitchen, etc.), paying under $200/night for a two-bedroom and full kitchen unit, isn't terrible.||This is a fine place if you set your expectations properly. Nothing is really terrible and (other than the staff) nothing is really great. It's a dated property in need of some...
