Flashback Arcade — Local services in Murfreesboro

Took my kids this past weekend--it was our first time there, and we had an absolute blast! $15 for unlimited play is a steal! It's clean, though a tad dark, and there are some basic concessions available--drinks and chips. I've heard rumors they will let you leave and come back the same day, though we didn't try this ourselves.

Most of the games appeared to be working, though a few of the 'gun' games only had one working gun. They had a nice selection of new games and many more older ones (Galaga, Centipede, etc) and a very cool Giant Pac-Man and Space Invaders. The newer games are the same ones you find at Dave and Busters and other pay as you go arcades, so getting to play new games as part of the included price is a great bonus and makes it worth the price alone.

I thought a lot of the pinball machines (they have about 40) might have been broken, but the gentleman running the establishment that day informed me they don't turn them all on during slower periods. We had a lot of fun with the ones that were on, though. I got the pleasure of introducing my kids to pinball, and I got to play a lot of machines I'd never seen before, including 'remakes' of classics like Kiss and Addams Family! If you're an enthusiast like I am, then you'll want to know that the machines are obviously well cared for, with great responsiveness and flipper action! I played every machine that was on, and there wasn't a 'weak flipper' in the bunch!

Recently I had grown tired of places like Dave and Busters that promise arcade fun but only deliver ticket games and experiences that you can have on a touch screen phone. While searching for arcade emulators one night I came across Flashback Arcade and it was only a few minutes away so I figured I'd give the place a shot. This is the arcade experience I had been wanting for years! They have so many different games to choose from and $10 lets you play all day. The selection is varied featuring cabinets that span decades and some truly great pinball machines. The black lights and space flooring only add to that awesome arcade feel and I could definitely see myself coming back many times.

The only criticisms I have are very minor. Some of the pinball machines said they were missing balls, I noticed the bubble leveler showed some of the tables were uneven, the Terminator 2 pinball machine is way too loud and I wish they would have some bar stools sit on for extended play on machines.

My very very minor gripes however do not keep this place from getting five stars. Every machine in the place is in top-notch condition and you could tell whoever owns the place has a true passion for the games. If you've got nothing to do on a Saturday night and $10 to spend, then this is the place to be!

This is the best Arcade in the state of Tennessee! If you are looking for the latest and greatest in video gaming at $10 a game this is not the place for you: you are better suited for some place like Bave & Dusters. If you long for the days when you'd get dropped off at the arcade weighted down with all the quarters you had saved Flashback is where you belong. If you miss standing in line to play Ms. Pacman so you can reclaim your high score Flashback is where you need to be. If you want to spend your last dollar to take the kiddos to eat over priced pizza and play video games; while you suddenly realize your singing along with a talking tomato this is not what you're looking for. If you wonder where all of the pinball machines are Flashback has you covered. Seriously this place is amazing. Pay for an armband at the window, step back in time, and play as many a you like, as much as you like, for as long as you want. When you walk in you are greeted by the sounds of every video game you can think of that was a standard at everyone's local arcade. Here are a few to get your quarters jingling: Galaga, Galaxian, Defender, Asteroids, Tron, All the Pac's men, Dig Dug, Qbert, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Burgertime, Popeye, Pole Position, Tetris.
