I completely agree with another reviewer when she says : "Not everyone should be in the hair business.1 the color supervisor are rude..2 they are never around when the students need them, causing havoc on your hair.3..when a mistake is made they will do and say anything to get out of fixing it." Color supervisor is completely rude, unsympathetic to my situation. I do remember a black teacher who was the only "teacher(?)" who was sympathetic and kind. I had the same hair stylist (a level one) Yusi do my hair, first time she washed my hair she let bleach run down the back of my shirt and stayed silent about it. She ruined one my favorite shirts, and it was so embarrassing to find out I had been walking around like that all day. I am very forgiving and understand she didn't do it on purpose, but she purposely avoided telling me. Multiple times I found chunks of bleach stuck to my scalp still. Last time I saw her I went in at 1pm. I was asked to wait & of course that's fine, the salon is very busy. It was for her 15 min break. I liked her so of course I did not mind. Everyone needs breaks. Well after consulting it took 45+ minutes of us sitting around waiting for a teacher until Yusi decided she was done waiting and just started on my hair. I'm really patient, but I got here at 1pm and it wasn't until a little before 2:30pm that my hair was finally being started on without teacher even signing us off to start. I trusted her though, and she did my root bleach ok. The problem was my bleach took so long, that I would always pass the time for level 1 stylist into the level 2 stylist time. This meant that Yusi would have to leave and be taken over by someone else. Yusi was trying to finish my hair, it's obviously trying to rush so I wouldn't have to wait for a level 2 stylist to come finish it. I have black hair naturally. My hair was currently bleach blonde. She asked if she could curl my hair, it would make a great after photo. I said yes, of course I want my hair to be cute! Well sadly, she didn't wait for my bleach blonde hair to dry and she curl my hair with an iron till it dried into a curl. She fried my hair. I stare as I watched the steam evaporate from my hair. She saw me looking concerned, and she said it's fine see, this is not damaging your hair. I liked her & I convinced myself I was wrong and she's right. She's a hair stylist and I'm not, she should know better than I. I left the salon happy, but my hair smelt very burnt. I thought maybe bc I never use heat tools myself this was a normal smell. I went out so everyone could see my cute hair, but I got a headache from the smell & had to wash it conditioner to get the smell out. I try using half a bottle of conditioner and a hair mask, but it still smells and feels fried. My hair has never felt this damaged. I need to call back, but end up I catching some vomiting bug and I'm stuck in bed for a week. This is the most sick I've been in 2 years. Finally a week later I can sit up without getting dizzy. I try to make the call but I'm still so emotional I can't talk about my hair without bursting into to tears. I ask my sister to call for me and explain the situation. When I finally come back so they can take care of my hair it's obvious the receptionist is being passive aggressive. She scoffs when I asked her to repeat something, because it's so loud in store. Even avoids smiling when she previously tried being as nice as possible. Two reception ladies come up and try being snappy "Your hair gets that damaged when you bleach it." I respond "She only bleached my roots, why would the bottom be damaged?" They assumed I was crazy, I'm sure. Trying to con the salon into getting free treatments or something. Yusi even came to me to confront me and tell me I was lying. So rude and unprofessional. I ended up getting a hair mask and had to cut my long hair to short. The receptionist tried making me pay every time until the kind black teacher told her otherwise. There are good people here, but wow there are some ppl who just don't care. Pay for the better students!

What gets me about my experience is not only the preventable mess but lack of accountability and the blatant disrespect. So My appoint was at 10am. I did not get home and the curly mess of a picture is what I left with. Got home at 7:45PM. When I made my appointment I stated everything I wanted done. Cut, Color, and Flat Iron. My groupon was only like $40 and with my hair, I was prepared to pay more. What I did not expect to do was pay and leave looking like a cross between a wet dog and a unkempt homeless lady. My stylist was kind, however her learning leader never came over to help her. At 5 they were just getting ready to wash out my color (yes it took her from 10AM to 5PM JUST to put in ALL over Red with a few scattered blond highlights)Its a school, so I didnt really care to be honest. I was prepared to stay the day if that meant it would be done. Well, they close at 5. So they offered for to leave with a wet head and come back the next day to finish. When I said I dont have the availability to come back the director finally made an appearance (Maggie?) Whom very condescendingly informed me "Well I can give you a $15 refund and give you 15 min under the dryer with some product that can support your hair type?" If you are a person of color, look at my hair.... be real. Ok. After I kept asking why someone couldnt finish my hair, Ms. Maggie proceeded to say "Lets be adults here. I have offered you what I could." TO which I am baffled, and said "You are offering me $15 back on a $100 investment? and I am leaving looking like a wet dog?" She said " I didnt say you looked like a wet dog, you did and you can take what I am offering or just towel dry your hair and leave". If you cant do African American hair, then someone should say that on the front end. If you have someone in a chair for 7 hours and notice that they arent making progress, come over, ask questions, offer to help. I followed back up today about my refund and I was informed that it was $16 and that they "didnt have to give it to me but they did it to try to make it right". It is extremely disrespectful to offer a refund (although insignificant) and then try to manipulate the verbage to appear like they are doing you a favor. I paid $100 to look like a chia pet. If I felt like Maggie was even a little remorseful, at my day that was wasted, I litterally had to get childcare for 3 children while my husband worked so I could clear the day. Bottom line: If you are of mixed decent or african american heritage, I would NOT recommend you go here.

Paul Mitchell School in Murfreesboro, TN is a great place to get my hair done. You are being worked on by students, who are under supervision from learning leaders. The learning leaders keep a close eye on the students. Nothing will be done on your hair without the learning leader discussing it with you and the student. I have been coming to this location for a few months now. I’ve been to others in California, South Carolina, and the other location in Hendersonville, Tennessee. It is a very comfortable place to go. If you are a senior citizen and you go on Mondays or Tuesdays you get a nice discount. The services I have had at this location are: Route touchups, all over new color, a couple of trims, and a fantastic Eye Brow Wax. In California, I had a balayage done. One of the fun things about going to this location is that they have a cute little popcorn machine. It’s made fresh and is delicious. Side note: Paul Mitchell products are cruelty free. This is how I switched over to using this line. I highly recommend the Paul Mitchell school. My hair is 90% of its time in a ponytail. Before and after pictures. August 26, 2024

Once again Paul Mitchell over charges, I came to get a full high light & a root touch up on May1st night shift. I was expecting to be charged the full price for one service and partial price for the second, which is usually one bowl of color for the root touch up. The price was corrected for my child, I wasn’t charged for the extra bowls and only paid for one full service and the bowls of color that were used on my child’s head which was fine. I tried to complain about the lead behavior but never received a call back from the female over the school. Lastly, I was told tonight by Alexus the front clerk that her manager has never told her about the 10% discount if you do a google review and Paul Mitchell know longer gives you a 10% discount for your google review very interesting it didn’t add up but ok. With all that being said my stylist is great, but the facility is declining with best practices from my perspective. Pay attention to what you are...
