I wish this was different, but feel like this is important to share. We are fortunate that we can get out of this situation...but I think of the "single mom with kids" or others that may have a hard time coming back from buying a bad car.
I asked several specific questions in many different ways to understand the damage that was done to the car. I expressed the concern of having long lasting issues that may be beyond repair. Looking back, there were a lot of red flags & I should have listened to my gut. I was met with photos that show the front of the car (and reminded that there was hardly any damage) but when you look underneath you can clearly see the damage was above and beyond what I was led to believe. I was also told the alignment was good (when they must have somehow not shown ALL portions of the alignment considering we got two different reports after showing it was way off).
We know we were buying a used car with a branded title. What we should have known was that we were being lied to when asking VERY specific questions. That we were being painted a picture that was NOT ACCURATE. I know it's AJ's job to sell, but pretending like you didn't know what was going on (when you took us to your friend's shop to "prove" the alignment was good and then said you had no idea anything was wrong is really messed up). It's one thing if we didn't ask...this was blatant disregard and we were lied to our faces.
If you didn't know there was any issues with the car and consider yourself a professional in this industry...I don't believe you should be running this business anyhow. It's okay to make money, it's not okay to do dishonest business and then deny it.
In the future, I will trust my gut and do better due diligence (I thought I was by asking and getting proof!!). In the meantime, I suggest you do the same to avoid being stuck with a car that is far beyond repair...
Read moreMy wife and I drove to Salt Lake to help our college grad daughter buy a car. We leveraged the Internet and visited all car lots large and small. Where we ended up buying a car is at the Auto Expo. Manny and the team were gracious and honest. They never felt like sales people. Their cars all appeared priced well and the car we purchased was certainly a better deal than all others like it we could find.
Being from out of state, the Auto Expo offered to be a source of assistance to my daughter for any car needs as well. When my daughter got her first oil change, and the dealer pitcher her $600 brakes, Manny said to bring it on. They checked it and the brakes were definitely within useful life but knowing my (I’m dad) biggest fear was issues after we returned to Phoenix, Many and the Auto Expo ordered parts and replaced them for her only for peace of mind.
I’ve never know. Whether to trust a small private owned car lot, but I’m sold. When I need my next used car, I honestly plan on flying up to Salt Lake, visiting my daughter, buying from the Auto Expo and making that awesome drive back to AZ.
Go see Manny, you won’t regret...
