I never put a negative review because it’s bad for business regardless if I didn’t like the service. HOWEVER, I could not let this go, nor let anyone shop at this store or location with out being aware of what type of experience I had. Complete lack of professionalism and accountability. My experience- 1st time customer, 1st time ever buying a suit. I made an appt showed up. Some were busy some were not. I had to go to someone after waiting for 10-15 minutes, before getting any help. I let that one slide. Finally when having to physically get someone’s attention for help we got started, this rep was okay and friendly, we got the style, how we wanted it to look when customizing the suit. Next time going in when it came to the suit fittings it was such a horrible experience, I felt disrespected, embarrassed & ashamed. A rep that helped by the name of Bonnie started to body shame, blame the body why the suit wasn’t fitting said, it was not their fault, and they could only do so much.” Not only did she say it nonchalantly, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd time this was like 4-5 times in front of other customers. Never felt so freaking awkward in my life, embarrassed, & furious. This company does “custom tailoring” well aware of it being my first experience, & I’m the one getting married. Bonnie the same rep, before the body shaming when looking for my suit, was tossing all of my groomsmen suits on the shirt/tie rack like it was nothing or like they didn’t just cost $750.00 per suit for my bro & bro in-law the rest we’re renting. Then she didn’t know the difference between the custom made high end suits vs the ones that are not she told me the suits are not $750.00 they’re like 3 maybe $400.00 they’re not the expensive kind. . Well, I’ve never thought this before, now she’s not only body shaming & blaming it on me. Now she’s possibly racially profiling me? At that moment I was DONE! I wanted out of the store & not have to deal with her again. When leaving Bonnie said, they would try and fix what they could, but couldn’t make any promises. When going back a few days later to try the suit on, I talked to the assistant manager Chelsey, I told her my experience she was shocked, & showed sympathy, & said that should NOT have happened. She was going to address it to the store manager & see what needed to be done. Few days later I go in speak with Mike the store manager, he said he was aware the situation“ and asked How could he help.” Now I had to repeat the horrible experience, & feel embarrassed. After telling my experience. Mike said, that’s not the experience they want for customers. He was going to investigate & make sure it doesn’t happen again. That was it. Since my suit cost 1200.00 I got 2 certificates that were worth $100.00 combined. Since I was there I planned to buy my son some white t shirts & myself a black button up. Totaled about $109. Before buying them Mike said on the house. Are you joking me? Then said I’ll followup with you & see what else I can do for you. That felt better, 3 weeks later not few days like he said, I called Spw Chelsey She was going to make sure he followed up. I got a call few hours later, Mike said I gave you the shirts right? I laughed and said, you were going to follow up because how bad the experience was. I could have bought the shirts with the rewards I wanted, He said sorry you miss understood me. I thought giving the shirts we’d be good. Now, I have no choice but to keep the suit, because my wedding is 09/08/23. Never buy from here!...
Read moreI wish I had read all of the the reviews before spending money here. I went in to buy some dress shirts and a tuxedo shirt for use with my conducting tuxedo. I was approached right away by a helpful person who seemed like he could have been a manager. He gave great customer service and answered all my questions. Wonderful. Then after making my selections, I thought I would also buy a set of suspenders as well.
I asked another employee where the suspenders are and he led me to them. After telling me that they had suspenders with both clips and button loops, he pointed to one end of the suspenders display and said "these are the less expensive ones," and walked away. Now when I had the original question about suspenders I waited till employees were done helping others. I never heard one employee direct a customer to less expensive merchandise. Like other negative reviews I read today, it seems that this establishment has a track record of either ignoring people of color or being condescending to them. One review from a person of color said that after struggling to get anyone's attention for help, two missionary type guys walked in and were greeted at the door and instantly helped. There were others who had similar experiences. I am a person of color, and besides my wife, I was the only person of color in the store. Its hard to believe after reading some of the other reviews that it was a coincidence that the only person of color in the store was the only one directed to the least expensive merchandise.
I was bothered by that, but not enough to cancel my purchases. When I got home, the brand new tuxedo shirt I bought, which came with studs and cufflinks was missing a cufflink. I would have tried the shirt on in the store, but I was measured and assured that I had picked out the right size, so I didn't think I would need to check it further than that.
I've called the store twice to voice my concerns over the missing item and the treatment I received in the store. Both times no one answered. I will not make a 40 minute drive back to the store until I can be assured that they have a cufflink to replace the missing one and that they have either heard the voice message I left, or read the response I typed to the survey they asked me to take.
I have little hope that anything significant will be done based off of the reviews I have read. It seem that all they do is either apologize and ask you to give them another chance to give you better service (roughly translated it means "We messed up badly. So please come back and spend more money at our store for a chance you might get better service"), or they give you a couple of cheap shirts for free. In the case of the free shirts, they will tell you that everything should be all good since you got free shirts. Either way, I see this as the last time I will purchase anything from Jos A. Bank.
The person helped me when I first went into the store would get 5 stars from me. That is why overall I give the store 2 stars. Without that person, it would have...
Read moreI went to Jos. A. Bank to get a suit for my wedding. While I was in there, the salesman kept trying to sell me a suit in a color that I did not want. I wanted brown, and he kept trying to convince me to get any other color. Finally, we got a brown suit ordered after much convincing. I was told it would be shipped monday to my home. I ordered the suit on a friday, three weeks before my wedding.
Well, monday rolled and I heard nothing. Then another week rolled by and nothing. I finally checked online and saw that my suit was in stock, and was being held for me. I finally called their customer service line. I was on hold for about an hour. So, I called the store to ask what was going on. Before I could really tell my problem, they said they'd run to the back and check. It obviously wasn't there. Once I was able to tell my problem to the sales person, they said "Ya, customer service sucks at corporate, I'll see what I can find out and call you back." Never heard back.
Over the next few days I kept trying to get a hold of customer service over the phone at corporate, and after about an hour and a half of being on hold, I spoke to a live person. They said there was a problem with the information on the order, the city was put in as "SLC" instead of "Salt Lake City." Apparently their system can't handle abbreviations? The guy said he'd fix it, and would have it overnighted to me. He got my email so I could get the tracking information emailed to me. I figured that it would still get to me 5 days before the wedding, so I could still wear it but not get it fully tailored. Well, I never received a shipping confirmation the next morning, and when I checked the status of my order it had not changed. I tried calling customer service again to make sure everything was ok, and after an hour of waiting I wanted nothing more than to cancel the order. I never got to, because no one ever answered.
So, I bought a suit at Mens Wearhouse. It wasn't quite the color I wanted, but I had it on time and it was nice. To my knowledge, the suit at Jos. A. Bank is still being held for me. Luckily the charge did not go through. I do not plan in...
