I had been a customer for some time, up until my recent experience with the owner. I had been driving down there all the way from Syracuse for several years, after the state took away my ability to purchase cigars and have them delivered. But noticed that the employees there being about the least customer service oriented and literally unfriendly. But I wasn't there to make friends, and i figured I was more educated concerning the cigars and I didn't need them to show me anything in the humidor. However, I would run into the owner from time to time when he was going through the humidor and in the back office, he would offer his help on his way in and out, but of course I found out really early on that I was not going to get anything from him i didn't already know, he seriously lacked any real knowledge, but l didn't care about that. I did care about the condition of the merchandise, and his humidor is maintained and the condition of the cigars was absolutely amazing compared to any competitors in the area. He was kind enough to get me signed up for the point program or award's program and it was to build towards either discount or whatever at some point, I figured i was spending likely 500 bucks a month and I have a good chance to save a little. But his employees never asked for my information and I wasn't getting any points, I would mention it from time to time and then I'd ask how many points I had, only after a few years to still have the same amount of points, never changed. The owner would be in the mood to have a conversation once in a while, and he'd introduce himself over and over because he wasn't sincere enough to really care about your name, and I realized that he was doing his business a serious injustice, and he was obviously missing the opportunity to get to know his customers and create any kind of loyalty or anything to make you feel like you were appreciated for the amount of money you spend there. Recently I had my wife with me which rare and the owner happened to be there that day, and requesting the ID's as customers walked in the door my wife immediately commented on his demeanor and she said he was almost cocky and he was arrogant to the customers, being so unprofessional he was in the humidor on the phone with someone telling them that he was without any employees, and he was going to be desperate for the upcoming schedule and he was obnoxiously loud, but he was never like that before, so I figured he was a little anxious and he was off his game that day. Until I was checking out and i had over 300 Dollars in cigars, his employee turned to him and asked about the discount for buying bulk and he responded to him with such a rude and pissy attitude the employee himself looked at my wife and I and rolled his eyes saying " sorry about that" and I decided to say something to the owner and asked why we were not getting points anymore, and his response to me was that he didn't offer them before but he's got a new program that would be better and he made it a point to tell me that I was wrong about the way they entered my info before when I explained that the employees weren't asking for my phone number, and he again proved he was not in the right business and he was just not capable of communicating with the customer and he was in fact the biggest detriment to his business, and he was so quick to tell me i was wrong and his new program is the way it's supposed to be but he nor his employe was smart enough to take this opportunity to get me signed up for it? It's obviously going to be really successful.... For sure right! O have since been to a competitor for the past month and I have actually been back to take advantage of the customer service and knowledgeable employees there and I have spent double that of what I usually do, and I had decided to share because I don't think that guy understands what the hell he's missing out on, and if he had a tenth of the walk in traffic of his competitor he could probably afford to get a few employees and get them along with himself educated and...
Read moreThis store.... i have been aware of tinder box since before I could crawl. My Dad was an avid smoker. He put so much money in that store. This last November he passed away. And in the merger leavings my brother allowed me to acquire I found a handful of tobacco pipes. The total amount of pipes came to roughly 23 that I took in to the store. Asking for advice. And expressing my situation as well as my finances. I displayed this collection. Of items such as Savinelli autograph 4 or Savinelli 1983 series. At the time pleading with the professional to just be reasonably fair... he offered me $250.00 on his word it was fair. I have since come to find it would been fair to say 2 or 4 of the collection. Giving him room for profit and still a moderate deal for me. I would have been happy with even 25% of fair market value. But since with some research now find I handed him a fortune. I will say this. Taking complete advantage of someone in need and greaving is well within his right as a shop owner... but by him not being even remotely honest at all to someone who's father baught all of those items from that store and basically gives me my right to make the deal public knowladge and make it known. If they know they can screw ya HARD best belive they will. It makes me wonder how they treat others. Naturally I'll take my other box of unused savinelli ...
Read moreFirst off, this is the first online review I have ever done but these guys and their staff are just awesome so I figured they should get my first review ever. I've been a customer for 5 years or more. I bought my first pipe here and now have over 100 of them. Also bought my most recent pipe here. ( a really great Dunhill estate that I got a great deal on, and really love!! Thanks guys!!) I have never had a bad experience here. They have really taken care of me. From pipe repairs to estate pipes and new pipes, to tobacco and accesories, they fill all of my needs. They helped me learn about pipes and tobacco when I was getting started, they have given me information to help me decide what I should buy, even if it wasn't something I was buying from them. Very honest and helpful and I really appreciate it. They also have a very good selection of mens shaving products which is something else I love. A great place to buy guy stuff in general and my teenage daughters also love it here for the other gifts and products. Just never anything but good, fun experiences and good conversation. Thanks again.....I'll be...
