Having been a shopper of JC Penny's for over 30 years and receiving such poor customer service from today's manager in charge (Mary); I can honestly see why JC Penny will be another iconic entity no longer in business in the near future.
I tried returning a dress for my elderly mother ($75 - still on the hanger and in it's garment bag) for a store merchandise credit and was refused, on the basis that 60 days had passed since being purchased. Admittedly, Mary said she had exercised her managerial discretion in the past to offer others this option, but "could not help me" - though my mother had had a 4-week stay at GrandStrand Hospital for a stroke.
This was communicated to the staff (Lori / Amber) and to be clear, they were very empathetic of her situation and said it warranted an escalation up to Mary. Mary approached and spoke in a condescending tone stating the 60 day policy would be the reason for no store credit. I stated my mother's position, being in the hospital, hence the reason for my involvement and with a blank stare she simply said: "I cannot help you."
I asked - surely you have the discretion to at least offer a store credit, she repeated the policy. I followed, had you ever provided any exceptions to this policy? Admittedly - she said "yes," but gave no explanation as to why she could not offer my mother one, considering the dress was purchased less than a month over their 60 day policy and the fact my mother spends nearly 10 times that dress amount (monthly) in their store. After all it's not a $700 item, It's a $70 dress.
Given her fixed income and long-standing loyalty to JC Penney, attributed by their dedication to customer service and professionalism, today's events have significantly diminished her enthusiasm to ever shop...
Read moreIf I could give the place 0 stars I would. We scheduled an appt the first time for my daughter to get her hair permed for her 16th birthday. We show up for the appt and they go ohhh our mistake we didn't schedule enough time to do it, they also tried to push doing a hair cut and treatments onto my 15 yr old instead of asking me ( she told them they would have to ask me). So we rescheduled, we go in she gets the perm ( mind you now they didn't try to push all these extra services this time), Shelly does her perm, put a ton of product in her hair afterwards, tells her if she has any issues etc contact her and gives my daughter her phone number. We wait the 48 hours to wash her hair per Shelly's instructions, the curls don't take like they are supposed to. My daughter messages Shelly who tells her oh it's because you need a haircut, and you need to be repermed, but it's going to be an extra $60 to perm your hair again. She tells my daughter to come in the next Saturday. The weekend comes and she tells her, oh I can't do it, you'll have to wait a little longer, now she's like Casper ( she's a ghost). Have all kinds of people telling me to not let her get repermed. All my daughter wanted more than anything for her Sweet 16 was her hair permed, now this child wakes up almost every morning in tears because her hair is messed up and she has to fight for it not to look a mess. Needless to say I'm highly upset at how business has been conducted, and the way my child has been treated. It will be the last time we visit a JC Penney salon....
Read moreFirst off, went in for new sheets and the choices were limited. I finally found a set, and went to look for shorts. I wanted something like Nike shorts just something breathable and they had nothing. They did have plenty of short shorts for men, like who wears those? I went to check out, I was told my Lorrie not to work with one young lady, that Francina had to help me. She asked for my phone number for reward points, but the problem is my current number is still linked to the previous owner of the number. Neither of them, Lorrie or Francina knew how to do the job. They never offered any coupons or anything. Francina jumped over to another register to check out the person behind me instead of finishing my transaction. She was dressed unprofessional, she was the only one wearing jeans there and acted put out that she had to do her job. I told Lorrie I would call corporate and get the phone number fixed, she went to get it and took so long I left to go to different register and Lorrie ended up following me through the store. She didnt have the number for me, she had a list of numbers and asked if I had anything to write it down SMH,
I went to register back in bedding and got Brenda. Brenda was very polite, competent, allowed me to use my coupon which saved me almost 40 bucks. She asked us what was wrong and she listened and we did a survey for her. She is the reason for the 3 star or it would have been a 1 star
I took my items and left...
