I'm so heartbroken. We were in MB for our 5yr anniversary. My spouse had promised that at our 5yr I could upgrade my ring, so while out shopping we decided to head to Kay Jewelery in the mall to look at options, since that's where we bought my 1st set. On our way in I saw a Reeds, and being someone who likes options and multiple opinions decided to pop in and see what they had; not intending to buy at that moment, just looking at options to get ideas and compare to Kays. The guy helping us, Scott - who we later found out was the manager, was AMAZING. He was SO patient, understanding, explained multiple options, and again... patient as I went back and forth unable to decide what to do. Based on his guidance we decided to buy a diamond and have it mounted to my original band which I LOVE. I was still hesitant to buy before comparing to another store and getting another opinion, plus was scared about leaving my band in MB and trusting them to take care of it and ship it back... but my spouse really liked Scott, trusted him, and had a good feeling. I waited anxiously and excitedly for it to get here with my new bigger diamond, checking email every day. When it finally came we were SO EXCITED I can't explain it. I put the ring on and kept staring at the new diamond, swooning over it. I took it off to get a good look at the new diamond and how it sparked, it's my first time getting an emerald cut and a diamond this big, and noticed that my band was SERIOUSLY DAMAGED. The gold was damaged to the point where a few baguettes were missing, as if the ring had been put in some kind of clamp while they worked on it and they tighened it too much. I FREAKED! The next morning my spouse called the store and Scott was with another Customer but the lady on the phone told him what was going on and they sent us a shipping label to send it back. a few days passed and Scott didn't bother to call. But we sure received the bill to our new Reeds card to pay for this ring that I can't even wear! I asked my spouse to call again, and as luck would have it Scott was off that day and the Jeweler was going on vacation. Still, Scott didn't call us. Today we call again and although he was nice, he told us the ring wasn't damaged when it was placed into the box for shipping, and that he AND another employee looked at it before shipping. ok, so you took my original band that had nothing wrong with it, added a diamond, cleaned & inspected the ring, placed it in a RING BOX, then put it in another package with bubble wrap... and you're telling me it magically was damaged this badly even though the box was in perfect shape? that's not possible.
we left my original band, which I LOVE, (with hesitation) to be upgraded, I got it back damaged, I have to start payments for a ring I can't even wear, they're showing no empathy to how much this is hurting my heart and have offered nothing in consolation or compensationlike a discount or anything, and we're supposed to be ok with that? I CAN'T! I mean he was so great in the store, got the sale despite my hesitation, got us to open a new CC (which we don't like to do), but couldn't pick up the phone to call us or express concern. This isn't just a ring to me... it's our commitment after 9 years of ups and downs, it's a symbol of strength... and now I feel violated somehow....

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently went to Reeds to reset a diamond pendant from a broken yellow gold chain into a white gold setting. The girl who waited on me was lovely. The jeweler was not in so she went to the manager. He took my diamond, picked up some kind of tool, touched it to my stone and told me not to make the change because it was not a real diamond and wouldnāt be worth the money. I told him that my parents gave it to me 20 years ago and I had even had it appraised for insurance coverage and was SURE it was a real diamond. He took his tool, went around the store and touched several of their pieces. He told me that all his checked out as diamonds but mine did not. He looked at mine with a Loupe and said he couldnāt see any defects so it was not a diamond, but possibly moissanite , which I had never heard of but now I know is a ālab grown diamondā. He said the other possibility was that it was a really good diamond without flaws, clearly believing that was not a possibility. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Devastated, I left, not even asking to leave it to have an actual jeweler look at it. I wanted an actual jeweler to evaluate it, but would surely not trust Reeds to do it. I went home and googled jewelers and was ultimately THRILLED to find Jacob the Jeweler who did beautiful work, and on top of that, the price was much lower than I expected. I also had them do an appraisal, and the stone alone appraised for over $3000. I can only say I DO NOT advise anyone to go to any jeweler who cannot even identify a...
