I love plato’s closet and I always enjoy coming and shopping and bringing in clothes for them but yesterday was not the case. I brought in a tub on 5/29 and I called that morning to make sure they were accepting buys the lady said yes they were so i got my bin and drove up from Conway to Surfside. When I show up there were at least 12-15 bins from other customers sitting on top of the buy counter and in front of the buy counter on the floor. The girl working at the buy counter had greeted me and then had me fill out the form and said it was going to be a FOUR HOUR WAIT! I could not believe it. Because a lot of the time the buy counter is either closed or it’s open and they close it because they have too many bins coming in. I understood that is was me memorial day but if you are going to accept buys and close early on that day then why don’t you only take a certain amount of bins for that day? But when i heard the girl say it was going to be a four hour wait I asked her what to do with my bin because the store closed at four and i was there around 1 o’clock and she said that I would just have to come back tommorow. So I waited the next day and called to make sure it was done and ready for me to pick it up and they had said all of the bins that were taken in yesterday to be looked at were all done yesterday so I took the drive to come get my bin. The girl who was working on 5/30 she had handed me my bin and said well you had really great items and brands but we unfortunately cannot buy anything from you today. I brought in brands such as american eagle, Hollister, shein, columbia, and other great brands. And on the sign in their store says they were in need of denim and i brought at least 5-10 things that were denim. She then asked the other girl that was working the buy counter what stuff we’re they in need of and she said denim, spring wear, and clothes that you would wear everyday. I literally brought in brand new american eagle jeans and jean shorts and a jean jacket and a american eagle tank top. Whenever I decide to bring clothes up to plato’s I always try to be aware of stuff that they do need and that would be everyday wear and not just random stuff so I actually have a chance of making some cash for the stuff. I was very disappointed yesterday with the turn out because i do love shopping here and bringing in clothes but it’s very upsetting when you do try and bring the store the stuff they need when they don’t...
Read moreIf I could give negative 5 as a review, I would! When my husband and I entered the store we were excited because we frequently shopped and sold items to Platos. I walk to the front counter and address the worker ... she did not greet me nor look me in my eyes the whole time she was speaking with me and giving me instructions to fill out the form. At the same time another woman walks behind me to look at an item and she showed SOO MUCH CUSTOMER SERVICE. We did not know of the new rules with the items needing to be put into a container.. when my husband asked her about the bag holding the clothes she responded with a snark remark . We had a few items and she let us know we would have to wait an hour which is fine we have done this before. I didn’t get the young ladies name but she was brunette with long hair and freckles... completely rude. So I went back in after an hour and was told my items were rejected because of an odor and pet hair. I was shocked because the clothes are clean and I cleaned off the shoe that dog hair easily gets onto, but I had three other pairs of shoes. I was appalled... my clothes did not have a scent at all...the pet hair I can understand that if I missed a spot . When my husband called confused on why I was told the clothes had a scent which I’m sorry is a Lie ! He informed them that we have shopped with them for two years frequently, we have purchased items with holes in them and stains . We understand the covid situation which is why we made sure to have the clothes washed before selling them. When my husband asked if they wash the clothes and he was told no.... even though there is a washer and dryer I have witnessed as a shopper washing clothing items and they are also selling bathing suits and I assume they are trusting that the sellers are washing those as well. Long story short the young lady made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome for and as I stated platos is my number one go to! But I will never spend a dime with them and I plan on informing my people of the interaction I had. Maybe it was just the worker I had dealt with but that’s no excuse for poor customer service and also lying . I would have been ok with them telling me they did not want my items instead of saying my clothes had a scent .. that’s...
Read moreI just spent half of my day washing some clothes that I grew out of and didn’t wear anymore. Mind you these are Banana Republic polos and Aeropostale dress button-ups and some Mossimo Supply shorts and pants. I walked in and the first thing that happened was a loud alarm went off next to my face. The staff seemed nice but the guy who helped me was new so his trainer kept following him around asking if he was okay. I filled out my sign-in sheet and dropped off my clothes while I went to buy a few groceries. I came back into the store and the alarm didn’t go off. A young woman asked if I dropped off clothes and she came over to help me. She then told me that she wasn’t going to take any of my clothes. Although it said on the wall behind her that they are accepting “EVERYTHING” for Men. She then proceeded to tell me that all of the clothes I brought in were too worn and outdated. Then the guy in training came up behind me and told me that some of them smell( which is untrue as I spent half a day washing everything). It’s kind of hard to tell what the clothes smell like because the whole store smells like body odor. I then took my box of clothes, thanked them for wasting my time, and left. 1/10 - 1 Star - Will not be returning - Will not refer to friends - I mean this is a resale shop and some of my clothes still had the tags on them. Can somebody who looks at the reviews explain why a resale shop would turn down never worn clothes. Especially when it’s mens clothes that they claim to...
