I booked my very nervous nearly 8 year rold daughter an appointment here on the recommendation of friends and I'm so glad I did! They have a very clean shop, very thorough on checking placements of piercings, very open and honest, just great all around.
Shelby was the one who helped us recently. She was so sweet and calm with my girl. She explained everything, every question, every time she did anything and it helped A LOT. She explained to me about lobe placement and we made a lot of different marks trying to decide on the best spot. She was so patient with me and you could tell she really wanted to get it perfect for us.
The hollow point needle is absolutely the best way to go. Less pain, easier healing process and NO BLOOD. Sooo much different than my early 2000s experience at Claire's 🫠
We ended up not doing the tandem piercing. My daughter cried a little and moved a bit on the first one but she was just nervous and psyching herself out. Then after looking at herself in the mirror, lots of smiles, and deep breaths she felt much better. The second ear, she was calm and sat still. Shelby used an 'ear hugger' tong style tool to hold the lobe in place so the piercing went exactly where it was supposed to even though she moved on the first one. The ear lobe is a bit bruised from that but still worth it for me because the placement remained perfect!
Shelby gave Gracie the squishiest cake to hold and taught her how to take breaths. She truly was calm and collected and efficient!! Thanks Shelby ❤️ she is in heaven and feels...
Read moreThe piercing crew here is incredible. They have been busy the times I've been in, but they are really good about helping everyone in a timely manner. I got my seconds done here, and let me tell you, I won't go anywhere else for piercings.
Years ago, I tried to get a second done somewhere else (chain jewelry store that uses guns.... trust me don't do it) and it was such a horrible experience, that I was really nervous about trying again. But Hippie Hoops really blew me away. The piercing itself was virtually painless, just a little pinch, and they talked me through the process the whole time. They have a great selection of jewelry, ranging in price from "free with piercing," to $10 a piece, and up to the higher end stuf. They also use FLAT BACK earrings for your ears, and that made a world of difference for the healing process.
They were awesome about informing me on how to clean my ears and make sure they heal properly, and they sell really good aftercare in house (keep an eye out for promotions and discounts).
I just came back in for my 8 week size-down swap, and that went so smoothly. Because my ultimate goal is for hoops, the girl helping me was able to show me the affordable jewelry options to wear while my ears continue to heal. Swapping from 8mm posts to 7mm posts was fast, painless, and very affordable! I didn't even need an apt. for the size down.
Overall, I recommend. I will be coming back in a few months to get hoops from here, and maybe even another...

My daughter has been itching to get her ears pierced for a while now, she was drawn to the cutesie earrings at Claire's of course, but my husband being in the industry a few decades ago, we knew that we wanted her to be priced by needle by a trained professional who loves their craft! Hippie hoops and holes was a really welcoming place. All the piercers there were kind and excited to help us out. The gal who helped us pick out jewelry was knowlegeble and made that part really fun for my kid. They have a range of jewelry prices, and good options included in the price, or $10 additional. But you could go up to $70-85 additional cost if you wanted to. When it came time to get her ears pierced we felt confident in Chelsea from the start. She was kind and very careful to take her time positioning where she was going to place the holes. When she was done my daugters ears looked beautiful, were hardly red, and earrings perfectly placed. I really appreciate that the shop was kid friendly, meaning there was nothing on the walls that I wouldn't want my 9 year old to see. Overall it was a great experience, my daughter is so happy and I would definitely recommend to anyone who asks...
