I came into the Monkee's of Naples the other day lured by the attractive window display and purchased two dresses. I told the friendly sales associate that I wasn't sure about them and would need to try them on at home with the proper foundation garment (I was wearing a sundress without a bra). That would have been an excellent time for her to alert me to the store's draconian return policy. And yet she said nothing. Nor was there anything visibly posted in the store.
I was only alerted to it AFTER I had purchased the dresses (and their dresses are not inexpensive: $200 - $400 per dress on average) and read the very fine print on the sales receipt: exchange or store credit only within 10 days. As the dresses weren't a good fit, I emailed the owner and asked her to make an exception as 1.) I had just purchased the dresses the day before and they were pristine with tags attached, etc. 2.) I advised the sales associate that I wasn't sure about them and was not advised of the return policy 3.) I live in CA so a store credit does me no good.
The owner refused to make an exception and was quite snarky in her reply. Reading the other reviews on both Google and Yelp, this seems to be a pattern with her. NOTE: This is a franchise and this particular owner, Sarah Woodworth, owns the Monkee's in Naples, FL, Lexington, KY, and Louisville, KY....
Read moreUnfortunately another bad experience. I didn't want to believe the negative reviews as I always like to give small boutiques my business and it is really too bad because this is a gorgeous store in Naples. I was so excited to come across it one hour before it closed on the final day of our first trip back to Florida post covid. We were visiting from Canada and my daughter made a rash decision to buy something with her own money. She wanted to exchanged it when we come back to Naples over the holidays and when speaking to the store employee over the phone she wouldn't make an exception for her. Its really too bad as I was so excited to finally have a store I wanted to shop at in Naples! I love to support small business but not ones that can't work with...
Read moreBought a $68 dollar pair of earring and after I bought them discovered the post was bent on one. I returned them the next day and the saleswoman said they did not allow returns for jewelry. I explained it was damaged and she said I could replace it but I specified that the post was too thin and easy to bend so of course I did not want to replace with another pair that would do the same. Looked all over for another pair most had the same thin cheap post. Finally found a pair and it was obvious the salesperson was not happy with me. Makes me wonder why there is no returns for jewelry. Would not go...
