Dress & Dwell — Local services in New Albany

Worst clothes shopping experience EVER! To bad I cant give it 0 stars! I had never been here before and heard how they have a nice collection. I needed a dress for oaks and a Heart association event I was attending. As I was looking through the racks I was noticing the largest size they had was Large. Well I am and XL so I asked one of the staff if they had XL in anything. She told me they had a few things but the distributors didn't send them that size often. Kinda of shocked because I never went into a store that didn't carry XL. I said ok well bring me whatever you have. Meanwhile I found a size large dress I wanted to at least try on to see if I could fit in. So I asked the lady to see if she had a hat to match this dress while she got me any XL dress she had. I NEVER got her help after that! I saw her helping others in the store and she never returned with a hat or XL dresses. I decided to see what else the store had and as I was leaving I came around a corner and in the kind of hidden corner was the "curvy collection"! XL and above VERY little options to choose from. So she could have showed me the section or brought me what one dress they had on there in my size. I literally went to my car and cried!! I will...

When I brought my concerns to the owner that Dress and Dwell does not cater to women who wear anything bigger than a size Large, her response was pretty disappointing. I understand that carrying a “curvy line” might not have been successful, but it’s likely because limiting “curvy girls’” options to one line may feel really alienating to them. Why not just get more sizes in the clothes you already carry? Other stores in the immediate surrounding area are able to be more diverse and inclusive in their offerings and their promotional photos and they are very successful. I advised to owner to seek guidance from their neighbors, but her response was that Dress and Dwell was doing fine as it is, so there was no need to cater to all body types. That’s pretty disappointing. I used to be a customer at Dress and Dwell, but never again. I’ve had really bad customer service several times, as have many of my friends – likely because none of us look like their “Dolls.” Apparently if you’re not skinny and blonde, you’re not welcome at Dress and Dwell. Beyond satisfied with not only the selection available to boutique lovers but their customer service as well! I found a piece online that I absolutely loved and went to the store to purchase and I had trouble finding it. Two sweet girls, Emily and Janna, went above and beyond to help me find the piece and they found it for me!! I have extremely high standards when it comes to boutiques and this one exceeds every one.
