EVERYONE READ FIRST PLEASE!!!! I went to my local GameStop bought my son for Christmas (early worried about tariffs and availability) the Switch 2, games, controllers, cases, all kinds of Nintendo switch 2 stuff. Total was over $700. Fast forward 3 days. I figured I better go through all this to make sure everything is here and working properly. I open and hook it up and itās fine. Now I open the big read cases of two games I got Donkey Kong and Split Fiction. When I opened them Donkey Kong was inside the case but the other case was empty. I freaked out thinking it flew out when I opened it (you know how small these games are) I immediately call GameStop. The person on the phone says no problem this stuff happens bring it back. I get there the manager comes over grabs the big red case and opens it. Tells me no this is a download only game. I said no, you have cards on the wall that are for downloads and you have game cases for people that want the game. She informed me that no we sell downloadable games in cases too (that makes zero sense) I told her first that is a total waste of plastic and seriously bad for the environment. She says to me no I remember you and you wanted the download game. I asked her then why didnāt I get the download for Donkey Kong. She didnāt have an answer for that. after all this I say ok no problem letās just exchange this for the real game. I was quickly called a lier and no you canāt exchange because itās open. I said how would I know there is no game inside unless I open it. She said thatās your problem. Iām pissed obviously, and all this over a small amount of $44 when I just spent over $700. I ask for a phone number to call. She has a smile on her face like she is enjoying this. I went outside to my vehicle to call the number. After 20 minutes finally get someone on the line who quickly tells me the same thing. We donāt care how much money you spent. We are not exchanging the download game, thatās inside a game case by the way. For the actual game. Then I look up and the manager can see me and she still has this huge smile on her face watching me talk to corporate. Who gets off screwing people out of $44 when she knows I already told her itās not about the money. I donāt want money all I want is the stupid little game that goes inside the switch 2 like I was told I was buying. Bottom line is after the humiliation from the manager at the New Albany Indiana location (you can figure out who that is if you want, Iām not saying names) the lady on the phone told me you are stuck with the download game and we are not going to help you fix this issue. Look Iāve never left a review in my life. People need to know what you āthinkā you are buying may not be what you are āactuallyā buying. And by the time you find out itās too late. Their policy is to NOT help costumers. This is not a mistake, it written into policy. Thatās how they operate. DO NOT EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM ANY GAMESTOP!!! EVER!!! As for the giddy manager, I hope she finds peace and college so she can get an actual career and not some dead end job working for a dead end company. Learn from me before youāve spent money and canāt get it fixed. As for the lady with the 8th grade education smiling and laughing at me over $44. ITāS A JOKE. THIS STORE IS A JOKE. Now Iām stuck going to the worst possible place to buy gamer gear AMAZON. I hate shopping their for gamer stuff. But now I have no choice. If you read this then yes you do have a choice. DO NOT BUT ANYTHING FROM GAMESTOP. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. THEN AFTER, LAUGH RIGHT IN YOUR FACE AS YOU ARE WALKING OUT THE DOOR. Never again for me. The console I expected, and the one I asked for, was the PS4 Slim, but instead I got the full size model. Was not permitted to open the box in the store to examine what I was buying. The console is black and the controller was white. Both had dirt packed in the crevices and showed signs of neglect. On the controller, the left directional stick gets stuck and the charge port is lose. Hooked everything up anyway and transferred all the profile and game information from another PS4. Halfway through the transfer I noticed that the fan was very loud, even louder than my window AC. Once the system was ready to use, I tried to insert a game and the drive wouldn't pull the game in. Then it started making horrible ticking noises and the fan got even louder! It started to sound like a jet engine firing up, that is if it had a piece of metal banging around inside it!! I will be returning this first thing tomorrow! Hopefully, the replacement is MUCH better!!
Update I returned the PS4 to the store the next day with no problems. In fact, the clerk was VERY apologetic! She said that the girl who sold me the system was still new, and whoever originally 'took in' the machine didn't initial or sign off that they checked everything before selling it. To apologize for my trouble, the clerk made sure I got a PS4 Slim, upgraded the storage, and extended my warranty!! The new system...

Arrived at 6pm to pick up an item they couldn't place a hold for to find one cashier and two people in line. One of us got in line while the other two of us shopped around for a while. After half an hour or so I got nosey and went back up front to see what was taking so long and the same customers were still at the register with the cashier was going through each game explaining the SAME thing each time (Scratches are okay but if I feel them with my finger we can't accept them so I can offer you... or I can't take it). They only had maybe 8 games but I think she did it twice because they were offering maybe 3 bucks. I was getting antsy because we'd been there maybe 45 minutes, there was still another customer besides us, and I had a zoom meeting at 7. I tried to politely let her know that I was handing my card and items to my kid to make the purchase and I think her eyes literally glazed over at that point. I gave up and went to the car for my zoom and was almost halfway through a two hour class before the others rejoined me.
TLDR: They've got nice products and prices but hopefully they have other employees or you're gonna wait forever. 3.5/5ā
Oh, also, the other customers let us go first since they were amazingly patient and despite probably ending up there...
