Burghardt Sporting Goods — Local services in New Berlin

Who knew getting an inground basketball system was so hard! COVID-19 changed how everyone and everything was done early this year so we decided to get a basketball hoop. I wanted a nice system and fast. I started with a Big Box sporting goods store thinking they’d be able to respond fastest (remember, stores are not technically “open”). I was told that I could order the hoop system on-line, BUT, I couldn’t be put in line on the installation list (which was very long) unless I came into the store? After asking her to clarify, being that no one is able to enter the stores, she repeated the same.

I looked up family owned Burghardt Sporting Goods. Clearly listed was a contract for questions, etc. I sent an email requesting info. on my wish to purchase. I received a very prompt response answering all of my questions! We exchanged a couple emails and he called me to finalize my order and explain who would contact me for the installation process.

The installation process was set up in a professional manner and the results are great! Only a little delay due to Wisconsin weather (too cold to dig and pour concrete and/or too much rain). Totally understandable!

We couldn’t be happier with the purchase. More over, the personal service we received from Brian at Burghardt! We can’t forget about the family businesses, that’s where the true...

I went in here to buy kinetic tape for professional use as this is a business that has previously made personalized uniforms for me so I thought it was a good choice to choose this store again. I notice when I went to cash out there was no one at the registers..instead of a store employee offering to cash me out or display any indication of customer service, a female employee and her manager(s) were hovering the entry way to the store, silently just looking at me and acting as if I was going walk out with my items, two rolls of tape….after an awkward few seconds and me looking at the registers with absolutely no one behind them, the female employee finally asked if I was ready to cash out. As soon as I said yes they all moved away from the entry way of the store. Then as I was cashing out the female employee had a bad attitude, and seemed put out that she had to assist me. I will no longer be using this store for my professional business needs due to this situation...

Had a great experience w Burghardt today. My 5 yr old daughter's elementary school had shirts made for an end of year fun thing, with each class having a different color shirt. Unfortunately I'm an idiot and ordered the wrong color, and only learned when my 5 year old was given her wrong-colored shirt at school (she was devastated!). The school didn't have any left, so I called Burghardt (who had made the order for the school) and they not only replaced it but rushed the order so we would have it in time for her "Spring Sing" day.

In an unrelated topic, I am a board member for an amateur sport league in Mke, and we buy much of our for-sale merchandise (t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts) plus field paint and other supplies from Burghardt. They've been great partners and i was happy to be treated so well today as an individual not a group customer (they did not know i had a business account with them when they fixed my personal situation.)
