Big Tuna Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in New Berlin

I'm always objective so I'm not going to give a lot of opinions here.

The food was fresh and served in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

The decor was pleasant, but nothing special.

The service was great... very polite and patient.

However, as someone who has had sushi from almost every place that serves it in SE WI, bar the Chinese restaurants that have a few rolls on their menus, this is not the place to go.

The menu is not nearly as comprehensive as you will find at other restaurants. Everyone has combos for the newbies that have a bit of everything for a reasonable price so you can try things out. The only combo on their menu was a sushi / sashimi combo that was almost $30. For almost half of that price you can get a similar combo at most other sushi restaurants.

A bit of opinion here, but Japanica and Kyoto in Greenfield have excellent menus, drinks, atmosphere, and prices.

I'll have to agree with another review here stating that this is a "Chinese restaurant" kind of place. It's just way too pricey, generic, and gimmicky.

We have been coming here for a few years now. First, the sushi and sashimi are excellent. The fish is always perfectly fresh. The sauces on the rolls are quite tasty. And they roll tight enough to be able to eat the pieces without feeling like its going to end up on your shirt. The sashimi pieces are generously sliced, so you can really taste the seafood. Their tempura is always wonderfully delicate and not greasy. The fried rice is always hot and fresh. As I said, we've been coming here for a while, but not even once a month and still they always recognize us and remember that I LOVE uni, so they make sure to let me know when they have it and when it is the freshest. (Very important with uni). We have enjoyed sushi at many places, locally and across the country. Big Tuna's pricing is always fair for the portion sizes and quality. Our second time to this restaurant in the last two weeks. First was awesome everything fresh, rolls were tight, and didn't fall apart. Tonight we were served cold coconut shrimp and when I try to explain to the waitress she said sauce was extra cold..... Really ? No hey let me get you another batch hey let me take it off your bill.....nope. The rolls we ordered we're not tasting the same, came all on one huge plate not anywhere near like where each of us could grab a corner of it and to be honest so much mayo BARFOLA. Sorry but 179.00 for three people? Kids running around in kitchen and behind the counter? Sorry, different chef. Sendik's rolls 5 bucks on Wed. No way they will stay in business running it this way.
