I was at this store about 3 weeks ago and was so humiliated by one of their "managers." I will never shop there again! For the past two years I had been on crutches due to degenerative arthritis, and a fall that fractured my tibia and damaged my knees. After 2 years of being at the mercy of others if I wanted to go out, I underwent 2 successful surgeries and was finally able to walk short distances with the help of a cane. So I went to Target in New Berlin to buy a car seat and some others items. I have a handicap license plate, so I parked in the first handicap spot and walked in with my cane. When I was checking out, the price of the car seat wouldn't ring up so a young woman who was supposedly a manager came to help. After she rung it up, she would not allow the cashier to put it or the rest of my merchandise back in the scooter. She said I had to push it out in a cart! After telling her that I couldn't do that. She said "Well, you walked in here just fine." Really, was it my responsibility to explain to her I couldn't walk, push a cart nor load my trunk?! She said I could not take the scooter out of the store! I told her I was parked in the first handicap space and she could send someone out to retrieve it after I was done. (This store has curbside delivery but they won't send someone out for a scooter) She still insisted on me pushing my merchandise out in a cart. I asked for the name and number of her District Manager because now I was in tears. Another so called Manager came and would only give me the district managers name but not a phone number. She told me to call the customer service number at the bottom of my receipt. She also told me they don't like the scooters taken out of the store because if its rainy or snowy out the tires would get salty!! Really? It was neither snowy or raining out. Both women told me it was Targets policy! I said " So you mean to tell me Target cares more about their scooters than their handicap patrons?" The second manager told me they have a wheelchair and I could have asked someone to push me to my car! Really? Instead of allowing me to be independent, I have to hop onto a wheelchair and wait for someone to push me out! Why does Target not respect our right to some dignity? I was humiliated beyond belief. The next day, I called Targets customer service and got an overseas woman who could barely speak English. She actually made reference to "Americans being rude. " I gave her my number and told her I deserved an apology and a call back. This never happened. I called the store the next day and asked for the store manager but of course he was busy so I had to tell their Logistics Manager what happened and was told they'd "review the video" and get back to me. This never happened. So I guess Target cares more about their scooters than their customers or maybe Target only wants customers who can walk in and out on their own accord or aren't handicapped like me? Or maybe to their 20 something year old managers who are not older and handicapped like me, I'm a burden. Perhaps we need to take a handicap exam before being allowed to use their scooters? Or maybe they just don't want handicap people shopping at their stores? They'd rather take the chance of having someone fall while transferring from their scooter to a wheelchair and then to their car or being forced to push a cart than get their scooters wet or salty! Why do they even have Scooters, for able bodied people. My sister who has family members with MD was so furious when I told her what happened that she went there that day to see if there were any signs posted stating that the scooters could not leave the store. There weren't. The moral of this story is that Target has no morals, decency or compassion. Bottom line is if you're handicapped, shop somewhere else or risk being publicly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to write a review for Target in New Berlin, Wisconsin . It was on Saturday. My husband, my little daughter, and I went to Target to have fun and shop. Before, I was planning to place my order online, but since we always had good experiences with Target, we decided to spend our weekend shopping in the store. I ended up shopping more than I had planned online and spent about $120. When we came to the register, the checkout person was really nice. My problem was with a coupon that I had from Target.comāit worked online but didnāt apply in the store, which was strange. I decided to purchase more, expecting the coupon would work. I asked the lady at the register, who was very nice, and she told me, āDonāt worry, I will apply your coupon manually, but let me ask my manager why it didnāt go through.ā Since I am a former Target employee, I know all the rules. For example, if I show a lower price from Amazon, Targetās policy is to match it. Now, this was a coupon from Target.com, and by policy, it should have been accepted with no excuse. It was just a $5 coupon compared to my $120 purchase. Then Diana, the sales manager at checkout, came. She wasnāt wearing a name tag, and when my husband asked for her name, she said it very rudely, which was unusual for Target. She said the coupon didnāt work and told us to just cancel our purchase and shop online after spending two hours at store just for $5 couponāeven though the other lady had already said she was going to apply it manually. Everything was checked, and the coupon should have worked, but Diana refused and said no. She also accused my husband of taking her picture, which was not true. She started shouting at us in front of other customers, saying, āCall security! Call the police! Donāt let them leave the store!ā Diana yelled and she shouting call the police don't let them to leave the store. I felt so embarrassed in front of other people who didnāt know the full story and might have thought we stole something. I asked her, āWho is above you right now? Who is the store manager?ā Since I worked for Target before, I knew there must be a lead manager for that day. Diana lied and said she was the store manager. I asked to see the Asset Protection Manager. My little daughter started crying, and I was shaking. I couldnāt believe we were being treated this way in front of everyone just for asking why $5 coupon didn't apply. Diana ruined our whole weekend. Then the Loss Prevention (Asset Protection) Manager came. We spoke with him, and he said, āIām so sorry. Youāre right.ā I also asked who the lead manager was, and he said, āIāll call him,ā which proved Diana liedāshe was not the top manager. Then Justin came. He was the lead manager that day. He was really kind and professional. He and the security guard helped us a lot. Justin said, āYou are right. I hope you come back to the store again. Please let me help you with your purchase.ā I was going to cancel everything, but Justin said, āIām going to help you. I donāt want you to leave the store like this.ā Please, please understandāI know Target is a really good store, but people like Diana ruin the storeās reputation. I told my family I never want to come back to any Target store after...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy son and I were at the New Berlin, WI Target on 5/31/24 near 7:25pm. I had checked out my items and my 13-year-old son was trying to purchase an Xbox live card. It was a $49.99 card but in the area it was hanging there was a sale sign with the price $34.99 listed. My son wanted to verify the price and found a worker in the area to ask if $34.99 was really the price, the employee stated it was and as my son was walking away he noticed that she took down the signs. He told after this experience that he wondered why she was moving the signs. When the item rang up $49.99 our cashier, Wyatt, called the employee from the back and she verified that the tags had been up when my son asked about them. Wyatt was unable to change the price, so I said I remembered I had a return to do anyway that Iād left in the car and that Iād take my son over to customer service where I believed theyād be able to help us. Also, we were holding up the customers behind us and I felt bad. At customer service we explained the situation to the employee at the desk, he was confused about a solution so a woman named Diana came over to see what his question was. Diana stated sheād go to the department and see if there were signs. I told her that cashier Wyatt had also verified already. (at this point I didnāt realize that my son had asked the employee in back and that she had taken the signs down after my son left the area). Diana came back up front saying there werenāt any signs. My son and I decided to go back and see if we could find the employee that had helped and on the way I verified with our cashier, Wyatt, that the employee in the back had in fact stated there were signs showing the item was $34.99. After being unable to find the employee my son and I were walking back to the front of the store and came across Diana in the center aisle of housewares. I told her the situation and she stated that āWeāre unable to change the price on those.ā And I stated that if thereās a sale sign up the price needs to be honored. And she very rudely stated, āI wasnāt done talking.ā Shocked at how she had just talked to me I said, āWeāre done here.ā And turned to leave. Diana said behind me āHave a good nightā in a very condescending tone. When I got to my car, I called the store and asked for the manager on duty, not realizing Diana was the manager. When she answered the phone she said āHelloā in a very obnoxious way without stating her name. I asked who was speaking. When she stated āDianaā, I hung up since further engaging with her wouldnāt solve anything. Iām just shocked at the way she spoke to me. Iāve shopped this store for years and never had even a remotely negative experience with any employee. Also, my first professional job was as an ETL-HR for a Target store and Iāve always LOVED Target. It was such a disappointing experience. All employees should be aware that posted sale signs MUST be honored if they are up. This situation is not only a manager being rude, but a concern that the Bureau of Consumer Protection will fine retailers over. Thanks for reading my concern, I hope this is resolved so I can continue being a...
