Stopped by here to look into buying a gift for my grandmother before she passed away at Christmas...she passed away before unfortunately. I was staying not far from the area working for a man in Fairfield Harbor and his daughters had went to college and left some clothes..I remembered the sales woman here and she was nice so I figured I'd swing by there and offer them to her. They were a brand name skirt in particular. The limited..far as I know that's a quality brand. So I did. She was very nice and accepted the skirt I consigned to her. No problems. Later that month on my weekend off of work I was downtown visiting all the local pubs and shops and was on my way to the bathroom and then to Michaels Pub&Patio as my last stop of the night. The owner of this shop appears from around a big SUV and starts yelling at me...telling me I've been stalking her employee and was making her employee cry. I was shocked and confused...I was in a very pleasant mood and she was very angry and hostile..she had two men with her who claimed to be law enforcement. I told her for certain I had no idea what in the world she was talking about and that she should call the Police if she was concerned because I gauranteed that I had done nothing of her report. This continued for a few minutes until eventually she was corraled by her male counterparts and I finally departed. Heading back to my pub visit and enjoying the rest of my night. I was upset by the issue. If there's one thing I detest it's being lied about. I certainly had not met or seen or visited her employee outside of work at all...and I definitely...did not follow her. She mentioned I had followed her into a parking garage....there aren't any parking garages in New Bern...so I'm absolutely certain that I have not even coincidentally been in any such location at any time in the last 3 years. It's downtown..I could likely be around anyone at anytime and not even know it. It was very strange...and despite the sales woman being very nice and having a good time shopping there...I wouldn't return to this shop. The owner mistreated me in public and was very out of line to do so. I made a report with law enforcement the next morning and I haven't heard anything about the issue in any way since. It was over a year ago...but it was a big issue then. I'm sure its still negatively posited as if I had done something wrong..but I...
Read moreI can’t tell you how many times Robin and her staff have helped me find the perfect outfit or dress in a pinch. I had a wedding to attend months ago. The bride didn’t have bridesmaids, but those she considered “best friends” were asked to wear a black dress. I can explain my style. I’m 38, have piercings and a full sleeve of tattoos. I like to mix really classy with a little bit of “she should have been a punk rock star”. I went everywhere in town. I don’t want to look like a cast member from Little House on the Prairie. Nor can I wear any dress that cuts/has a seam at my waist. I have a short torso and very wide hips. So anything with that cut, shoots off my hips and I look 100 pounds heavier. With an hour left before the wedding. I ran into the store, told Robin what I was looking for. She popped right up and handed me a dress. Even though I wear a medium/large she handed me a small. She saw the look on my face and said it will be perfect, hustled me into the dressing room. Robin, knows exactly what she’s doing! I felt so good in that dress, I decided to take it and myself on tour that night around downtown. You really can’t ask for better customer service than Peacocks Plume....
Read moreI used to lust after this sensational store since 2007 when I first moved to NC. I live 2 hours away and shop in-person twice a year and do mail orders too many times that I’d like to put in writing. It’s well worth the drive because Robyn and Caroline and Grey always make me feel like I’m not an imposition even though I actually don’t care to shop, have body positivity issues and take forever to make decisions. I probably owe Robyn rent there for the time I spend in the fitting rooms. This is hands down a textbook example of customer service at its finest, a curated selection of clothes to fit most budgets and all sizes of women’s clothing. If they let me live here, I probably would. This is such an amazing store operated by Southern belles who make you feel appreciated and the clothing…sweet Baby Jesus…the clothing is sensational. The best store in NC! Thank you, Robyn for being my friend of over a decade and for bringing your fabulous vision to life...
