Arlan's Market — Local services in New Braunfels

If you’re in New Braunfels, you HAVE to shop at Arlen’s Market. It’s everything a hometown grocery store should be — friendly, clean, well-stocked, and welcoming. But the real star of the show is Jackie, the manager. She’s the reason this place thrives. Jackie knows every customer by name, treats her staff like family, and makes sure the store feels like a true part of the community.

Honestly, if Jackie weren’t there, Arlen’s wouldn’t be the incredible market it is today. She keeps everything running smoothly, always has a smile on her face, and goes above and beyond for everyone who walks through the door. She deserves the biggest raise ever — and I’ll happily chip in to make it happen.

Arlan’s was a family store, but was sold to a hispanic chain. The new owners brightened the store and cleaned it up. They added Hispanic deli items. The prices are similar to H E B, but with less selection. The advantage of Arlan’s is its size. No hike in the parking lot and you can get what you need without walking a mile inside. My criticism is that they discontinued the wonderful apple fritters. The bakery items were a real draw to get people in the store. When I asked, the bakery was blamed. The bakery case is now full of tasteless cookies. The store needs to work with the San Antonio bakery and provide more shelf space. The bakery still delivers to the Schertz store. I hope the management reads this because competition...

Way too overpriced!!!!! Not a great selection of things either. Today I was very disappointed, my wife and I were the ONLY people the staff did not greet or ask how we were doing in the checkout line. We stood in the checkout line and heard the staff friendly to EVERY person in front of us. When it was my wife and I’s turn, there was no greeting or even a hello. I am not sure if it was because we were not “regulars” at Arlans, but it was very obvious and rude. I will not return to this grocery store. Very...
