Visited New Orleans on Friday, may 17. One of the places I wanted to check out was the vampire cafe and boutique behind it. I was with my sister, her husband and their kids. One kid being in a stroller. (It stated on the door no strollers. We get that.) there was a gentleman outside the door who told my sister they could take the stroller in. When we walked in, we were immediately âgreetedâ with you canât bring strollers in here. Not a single hi, how are you or even remotely nice about it. There were 4 employees(?) working. Several of them were rude about it. So my sister and her husband turned around and walked out. I assume the employees didnât realize I was with that group and still in there. One of them decided to not so kindly (WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS IN STORE) say you need to learn how to read. I donât know which did. But I told them not to be rude and walked out. If that is how a business is going to treat customers then, maybe itâs time you reevaluate your customer service skills!!! I work in the service industry and have for a very long time. Never have I ever said anything like that about a customer. Especially with other customers inside the store. Very poor customer service and absolutely disgusting way to talk about a customer. Will definitely say I will not be back to the boutique nor will I recommend it to anyone who visits New Orleans. I wouldnât even give 1 star had the option been available! Do and be better Boutique...
Read moreThe shop was alright to visit âjust becauseâ but please be aware that most items are just for entertainment. I made the mistake of being on the phone while shopping so I wasnât paying much attention to the fine print and I really wish I would have. I purchased a charm candle for $9.95 which I knew was pricey but I figured since the candle was literally the size of a 50 cent short/mini candle that the charm would be somewhat worth it. See picture of charm below, it wasnât worth it..I added a penny next to it for size reference. I also purchased a bottle of âsnake oilâ that as it turns out is junk ingredients & only for entertainment purposes. I knew the oil wouldnât be actual snake oil but I did believe it would be a mix of oils that I could legitimately use. I suppose it will be an expensive Halloween decoration now. The girl at checkout didnât speak to me or my sister until my sister initiated conversation about the book the girl was reading. My sister also got a charm candle and a small sheet of stickers and somehow spent $30. Neither of us were given a receipt and both of us are disappointed with the price & quality of the items. Overall itâs not entirely their fault since I wasnât paying attention but I also feel like I completely...
Read moreI love this shop. It's a little off the beaten path in terms of popular stores that may be similar in the area, but that's what's great about it because it's not overly crowded. The staff is nice, and they have some cool offerings from books to clothing.
updated October 2023 I recently popped in with my teenager kiddo to see what new offerings they had, and she found some really pretty liquid lipsticks and picked out a color she wanted. However, when we got home and I opened the lipstick, I realized she had the wrong color. I called the store and let them know what happened and asked if I could exchange it for the same brand but in a different color the following morning. The person I spoke with over the phone was polite and stated they'd let the morning person know. The following morning, we went in, and sure enough, the morning person knew to expect us and took care of us. The exchange was very easy and simple.
We don't make it into this store very often despite living in the city, but for those that are into what store has to offer, I highly recommend it. Also, if you're into supporting local businesses, this store carries items that are created by local people, including the cosmetics and jewelry.
Thank you,...
