I have stayed at your hotel 5 times before. This week I stayed in room 210. I had booked from outside source. The site asked me how many cars which it was myself and my partner. So we had two. On Monday when I arrived first I was notified yall had did away with the parking and i would have to pay even more than I had already paid. Your clerk printed out a sheet but did not know where any off the parking spots was or which was the closest. The number on the sheet of paper dud not work. So after driving around another hour after my 7 hour drive down I finally found a place to park for myself and my partner. But it was going to cost me another $335 for the two cars for the four days. With no valet or service to get us back and forth to our cars we had to walk with our things back. Not happy.
Through out the week. I told many if my friends about the hotel, the location, and the pride of the staff in the past years. But that has seemed to be not the case this year.
On our last day. 4/8/2021. We woke for an early breakfast telling your night clerk who was getting off we would be back as soon as possible but with slow service at every where we ate this week we did not know the time. But would be out by noon for sure. She said she would leave a note. She did not.
We got back at 930am with my car. Told the same thing to the morning clerk we would be leaving soon and not needing the late check out.ย He said ok and that my car would fine in the spots marked for your hotel as we loaded up. Assured me it was ok. We went up within 10mins I brought my things down. Placed them in the car. Went back up and a few minutes later, less than 8 mins later. My partner came down with his things finding my car had been told by the city.
The hotel clerk started to make excuses. I asked to speak with a manager. He said everyone was in a meeting. That he could call him or I could. I told him I needed to speak with him in person. After 45 mins Jason the manager same to make more excuses. Saying he could not control the city or what had happened. I asked if he trained the staff and what to say. He said the staff had been trained. So I asked him about his clerk assuring me my car was fine. In a spot belonging to the hotel. I also asked about out of state and city guest not being told about street cleaning. There is no signs. No notices in the rooms. Or info anywhere. Just the words from your clerk saying my car would be fine. At the end of our conversation I asked Jason for the main number to call to complain about this and get a refund for the money I spent I get my car back. He refused to give it to me or give any help to get my car brought back. He finally offered a ride with attitude to the impound lot where my car was. Now I have a ticket for parking in your spot as well as having to pay another $201.17 to get my car out.
Total for the week $866.17 to stay at your hotel for 4 days and getting no help from your staff. Not happy at all with the outcome of this so far. I will be speaking my attorney on Monday though. I have also spoken to The Dallas Voice our local LGBT newspaper here in Dallas about maybe doing an article wondering if the Andrew Jackson has lost its welcoming warmth for guest.ย I have started my reviews on google, yelp and other sites as well letting everyone know how Jason and your staff was so unhelpful.
Update The area manager has called me and was very nice. He apologize for what happened which made things a little better. And since I do love this hotel. I will be headed back again soon. Hope to see many of...
ย ย ย Read moreIn town for one night, I wanted to stay in a haunted hotel to make the most of my short time in NOLA. Cassidy, the absolutely adorable front desk attendant checked me in, and I leaned she had only been working on this property for less than a week. In her short time, she has seen and felt some things, mainly the little boys who run the halls and create mischief with guests and workers. She took me to my room, 202, and continued to recount some of the siteโs history. When she left, and while I waited on my husband to arrive to join me (thankfully!!), I started wondering what I had done in thinking this would be โfunโ. I certainly didnโt feel alone, and frankly, I was scared to even go to the bathroom. It just felt creepy. The room itself was nice. It could use a little love, but at a fair price, I would rather have authentic over a modern chain motif anyway. When my husband arrived about an hour after I did, we left for dinner and drinks, and everything was perfect about the location of this property. We came back around 1 am. Cassidy was long gone, and we stepped outside to the courtyard that is said to be haunted with less than benevolent spirits. I didnโt see anything, but I definitely felt a presence heading back inside that felt uncomfortable. My husband and I fell asleep pretty quickly. Sometime around 3 or 4 am, Iโm guessing, I heard a loud crash on our floor very near our room. It woke me from a dead sleep, but I was too scared to even open my eyes. That is when I heard the scurrying footsteps out in the hall and, sure enough, the voices of two kids calling to each other. I couldnโt make out what they were saying, and while I was scared, the feeling was more curious to me. My husband slept through all of this. I fell back asleep and dreamed the boys were in my room and hit my pillow hard right by head to wake me up. Cassidy did tell me that they tend to pick on snorers, which I sometimes am. Great. Maybe that was another kind of experience, but the sound in the hallway confirmed it for me. This place is legit haunted. This morning, when we checked our bags to spend the day walking around, and again you can walk everywhere you want to go, we met Leroy who is a total jewel, too. He has worked there nearly 13 years, and man, he has had some run-ins. Later, when we came back, Cassidy was coming in for her shift, and I am so happy to have seen her again. Her excitement and kindness really made my experience at the Andrew Jackson special. She told us she heard furniture moving outside around 10:50 pmโa loud crash of a wrought iron chair on an inaccessible side porch and yard area. She went outside to check, only to find that the boys had locked her out. The way the locking mechanism is in the door would not have allowed her to lock herself out. She had to call her boss to come let her in. She was blown away that I just described to her first what sounded like heavy furniture being moved or dropped. Two other guests staying on the first floor reported hearing the crash I heard. Anyway, it checked the box on me wanting to stay some place haunted. Iโd go back, though, for Cassidy and Leroy. Good...

Let's start with the pre arrive communication. We prepaid and received confirmation. A few days after receiving the confirmation we received another email that created some confusion about the first reservation. We attempted to call the hotel several times, which led to an automated message that wouldn't allow you to speak with anyone. We are still confused by this, as we saw during our stay the front desk person was always there, reading or doing other work.
Upon arrival, the person that greeted us and checked us in was very friendly and very helpful. The people at the hotel all were. They were always smiling, and willing to help and answer questions.
Now, let's talk about the room. We were put into room 103. If you ever stay there and are put in 103 run, don't walk. Walking in we found it to be quaint. From first look it seemed cute and very historical. Here's what happened after that first impressions:
There are no outlets. In this day and age I would think that even an historical building would have some upgrades to accommodate the technology that we all carry. We had to unplug the clock and use the outlet in the bathroom to charge our devices. The outlet that had the TV attached was clearly a fire hazard. Light and noice. There are no windows in the room (there is in the bathroom, but that's a separate point). There is a large window above the door that is covered, but light streamed in from the hallway. As this is an old building the noice was insane. This room is also next to the lobby bathroom and you can hear every time someone uses the bathroom. The bathroom. It's small, the toilet was coming up from the floor. The shower was coming off the tiles. Although the surfaces of the sink and toilet and bath were clean the bathroom as a whole was not.
The window in the bathroom was GROSS. It was layered with dust and the blinds didn't work very well to cover the window. Had the hotel next door been open people would have been able to see into the bathroom. The window that sat on top of the floor window was blacked out except for the broken pane that allowed anything in the room from the outside. This included gnats, and bugs and of course dust. It was incredibly uncomfortable.
The towels were old and although clean they were stained. They don't tell you upfront, but they only clean rooms every 3 days and you have to ask for clean towels. With the pandemic you would think that rooms would be cleaned every day.
We paid almost $800 for three nights at the hotel. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and I was glad to be home and somewhere clean.
Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Don't...
