The meal was ok, nothing special, with the exception of the spinach "crab" dip, it was truly awful. There was no discernable crab and it was covered in unmelted cheese and red onions. My family was prepared to simply be disappointed in the food and move on. However, the kitchen staff decided to stand as close as possible to the door that leads to the dining room and tell a story about beating someone up. It was loud enough that the 2 other tables and 2 servers, along with my family (including my 12 year old daughter), heard every word. They repeatedly used the N word which is highly offensive to my family and should be to anyone.

The server who identified herself as the manager told the guys that "people can hear them". Our server said sorry and walked away. The kitchen staff continued their story, loudly. We asked to see a manager and the server showed up and said "I told them to stop. They don't think they are doing anything wrong." My husband told her that he no longer had an appetite and would not be eating or paying for his meal. It was a shame because the fried seafood platter seemed to be the only thing they did right. The manager went back to the kitchen staff and pointed us out to them as the complaining guests.

When the manager went to the computer to discount our check, 2 of the grown men kitchen staff stared directly at me while my children and I attempted to finish eating. It was threatening and based on the conversation these men had been having, I no longer felt safe. It was clear that these 2 adult men with access to knives and only feet away from where my children and myself were seated, felt I had done something to get them in trouble. Their states continued for several minutes until I felt unsafe and threatened enough that I needed to remove my children from the situation.

I approached the manager and told her I no longer felt safe and my family and I are leaving. I tipped our server what would have been 20% of the whole check and we walked out. I own a restaurant and understand the vulgarity that can occur in kitchen talk but I would never condone the use of offensive racial slurs. It would not matter to me if the guests could hear it or not. Pointing guests out to the kitchen staff you just "reprimanded" is uncalled for, poor management, and potentially dangerous. The manager in this situation escalated the situation and offered no real empathy for my family as we dealt with the situation.

I realize this restaurant is in the French Quarter and probably doesn't lack for traffic and guests willing to pay high prices for subpar food. However, any establishment that allows this dangerous environment will eventually find itself in a dangerous situation that the under qualified manager will have no clue how to resolve and could end in a physical altercation.

I recommend no one waste their money in this restaurant and anyone considering eating here keep walking. There is a better restaurant around the corner,...

I went here twice during my visit and each time rated only three stars.

It was a crazy time in New Orleans - Labor Day Weekend, Decadence Festival, and and LSU/Houston Football game all going on at the same time. So, it was packed. Pere Antoine has a reasonably priced menu (for the French Quarter), looks elegant, and has a nice selection of Cajun and Creole foods.

My first visit was just my son and me. We were looking for a place that had immediate seating available and was not outrageously priced. We were seated almost immediately. The menu is pretty extensive and offers everything from Po-Boys to Jambalaya. For my dinner on my first visit, I had the Jambalaya. It was a little overcooked, so the rice was heavy and sticky. And, the shrimp were the tiny cocktail versions and did not taste completely fresh. They were not bad, they just had that fishy taste you get when they are a little older than they should be. It kind of overpowered the rest of the meal.

The second time we went, my wife, son, and I were looking for brunch. As we passed it, there were plenty of seats, so we decided to go. It was a late brunch, so I actually ordered lunch. Their roast beef Po-Boy was smaller than other Po-Boys at other restaurants we went to. The beef was good. The fries were a little damp. The one really good thing for me was the bread on the Po-Boy. I like my bread crusty, and this was.

Also, the service was really outstanding.

Next time we're in New Orleans I expect we will skip...

Food: Disappointing, bland, flavorless, underwhelming, unremarkable I ordered the shrimp Po'boy and fries Being my first time in New Orleans, I was excited to try many of the city's famed foods including the Po'boy It was simply popcorn shrimp on a bun with some lettuce, tomato and pickles (which I understand is par for the course and considered 'dressed') and served with seafood sauce and mayo on the side There was nothing special about the bun or the shrimp or any part of the sandwich The whole thing was simply blah which is most unfortunate because based on my reading, myriad flavour and topping combinations have been created for this sandwich since it's humble beginnings It's too bad that this restaurant didn't take the time to create a signature version of the sandwich (perhaps in addition to the classic version) to make them standout and be memorable The fries were unsalted, generic and likely came from frozen, Popeyes fries are more exciting Service: Our host and later server were great The host was welcoming, fast and efficient Our server was lovely, attentive, polite and checked-in just the right amount of times Atmosphere: The atmosphere was OK The thing that works for this restaurant is it's location It's right in the French Quarter and located on a street corner allowing ample opportunity to watch the comings and goings outside through the big open windows I would not return for the food but would return for the location

Went here for lunch today on 2/6/2022 with my husband. I was surprised that there weren't many people at around 1 PM on a Sunday when Rock n'Roll Marathon was in town. The dining room is very pretty and we were seated next to a window where we could hear a street performer playing a cornet. I specifically chose this place because I have Celiac disease and their menu actually lists gluten free options! We ordered the marinated, grilled alligator with horseradish mustard ($17) as the gluten free appitizer. It was surprisingly good and tasted much better than any fried gator that either I or my husband have ever had. The texture is like shrimp, if you could have a chunk of shrimp. I asked our waitress whether she'd suggest the gluten free jambalaya ($15) or the gluten free Creole ($17) - she suggested the mixed jambalaya (chicken, shrimp and sausage) so I got that. It was okay and came with sauteed vegetables that were meh. I noticed that the shrimp weren't deveined so if that grosses you out, steer clear of the shrimp. My husband got the chicken Creole and OMG it was so good. I wish I had ordered that! I kept dipping my sauteed vegetables in his Creole sauce. Chicken Creole was 10/10. Alligator 8/10 Jambalaya with sauteed vegetables 5/10 I'd eat here again and order two chicken Creoles just for myself next time, it's just that good.
