I went into the shop looking to replace a bow or to move into a crossbow. I wandered around the shop for 20+ minutes while the 2 behind the counter were talking. After some time I asked about the crossbows they had and he was less than helpful. He stated the crossbows were all the same at that price, that there entry level and I needed to spend more money for a different one. I am pretty ignorant when it comes to crossbows and was looking for some advice on them. I did not get any other than he thinks people shouldn't be allowed to hunt with them. He asked why I wanted a crossbow. I have a shoulder injury that is pretty uncomfortable when drawing my 25-year-old bow. He asked "how bad is it injured really?" I was a little put off by the comment, but maybe it's just me. So I asked about bows and how theyay have changed since the last time I bought one. He was less than helpful by saying everything. He asked what price point I wanted to be in, and I told him the last bow I bought was 4-500 dollars, 20 something years ago. He said he doesn't have anything for me there because his bows are more expensive. I explained I bought mine used and in my teens. But again, he seemed very condescending by stating a good bow starts at about $1000, and that's more than i wanted to spend. Long story short, I did not purchase from them. I did, however, order a Matthew's Phase 4 33" from elsewhere, spending almost double what he said I would. I have no brand loyalty to Matthew's as my previous bow was a PSE. I would have gladly looked into building a bow from whatever brand they carried because I really wanted to keep my business local, but the shop didn't earn my business,...
