It's a fine station. First, if you want to come out closest to the park, use the 8th Ave. exit. If you want to come out on 7th Ave/towards the hospital, use the 7th Ave. exit. Now, the review. They took all garbage cans on the platforms away some time ago, but now there's one upstairs near the 7th Ave. entrance at least. As of Sept. 2017 they have added a small departure board telling you when the next F or G train is arriving (at least on Manhattan/Queens bound side, I haven't gone towards Church St. or Coney Island in a while, and I don't remember seeing one when I get off the train coming home). I concur that the platforms are comfortably wide, and while it may not be the most beautiful station, it can take you to the best destinations in the city in a (OK, somewhat slow, but still) heartbeat, and the views from the elevated stops right before/after 7th Ave. are nothing short of...
