Best dontus you can get... real old style donuts and made on premises FRESH each day.... thre soups are alre delicious with a different soup of the day each day and regular soups every day and three every day soups -- all of them delicious... (except the french onion soup which tastes lousy everywhere... there is only ONE good onion soup in brooklyn and believe me I searched for years,,,) Their sandiwches are good and all the dishes are generous.. The breakfasts are really delicious and hearty... I have tried them all over the years... the service is friendly and cheerful. All the fancy places in Park Slope do not satisfy the way this place does. It's a trip to the old days when ALL diner food was really excellent. Anyway they don't accept credit cards for deliveries because they already have their ]hands full., but you can use those online delivery services. I am not the only person who loves their salads and burgers and the best donuts in brooklyn. Try them out and you'll see... on fridays they make a new england clam chowder that melts on your tongue.... gonna go oder something right now....
Read moreAdmittedly, this is not Rao's or a high-end restaurant. However the food was excellent. It is like a "guilty pleasure" type joint, as you can't eat this stuff every day because of the calories. This place takes you back to the days when you could go into a diner and sit at a booth. Sadly, those days are slowly ending, and all we have these days for the most part are healthy restaurants with tiny portions and yuppies with attitudes as customers. It is great to see a place like this still exist in Park Slope, like a blast from the past. I ordered rice and beans which were massive and excellent. Grilled cheese and fries also good. The donuts and milkshakes are also pretty damn good, and the salads are fresh.
They are also very friendly. Great bang for your buck compared to other Park Slope restaurants. They are also open seemingly 365 days a year. If you place a big enough order, you can usually convince them to deliver outside their normal range, so they are flexible about that kind of thing. And I believe they are open 24 hours a day so you could actually order from...
Read moreI wanted to like this place. It's a neighborhood staple that's resisted the gentrification of park slope. However, if you go be prepared for an amazingly overloud atmosphere that's crowded, the food being mediocre, and everything on the menu an add-on in terms of price. If you order the two egg breakfast, don't be surprised that it's listed as cheap until you get the bill and realize, coffee isn't included. Don't worry about refills or even the coffee being hot, neither are going to happen.
The donuts that this place is known for, I never knew donuts could be so bland. How do you take ALL flavor out of something as simple as a chocolate frosted donut? Even worse, how are they stale as soon as they get put out?
I understand why places like Dunkin Donuts is putting places like this out of business. However, these guys are not doing themselves any favors by making mediocre food, charging for every single item in a set menu item like breakfast separately (I'm surprised the butter on the toast wasn't extra), and offering just...
