Just tried to grab a pizza from this place. The darker gentleman (i am dark also) at the register was extremely disrespectful. He was speaking to a customer when i walked in and totally ignored my presence. He kept indulging in his conversation with an older gentleman. The kind man making/ prepping the pizzas behind him, seen me waiting and asked me what i wanted. I told him i would like a slice. He told the the tall darker guy at the register to take my order cause i have been waiting. He caught an attitude and said “ you dont see me talking to someone rn about pizza? I can take the order after i am done. Im in the middle of a conversation with a regular customer. I can take orders when im done with my conversation. You shouldn't interrupt people like that”. He then proceeded to continually speak to the old man completely ignoring me. I was appalled as i never been treated in that manner. Ive eaten at over 100s of restaurants in nyc and all around the world when i travel. The level of disrespect, unprofessionalism is profound and beyond me. I had to leave, i refused to wait till his conversation was done so he can then take my order. The pizza looked pretty good, it was unfortunate. I hope he doesnt treat the wrong person like this thats a food critique or famous food blogger. He would of single handedly burried...
Read moreLove this Park Slope pizza joint. I always stop there for lunch when I'm in Park Slope NY for business. They have a great brick-oven pizza there. The rumors are true, Smiling Pizza is making the name to be a Brooklyn's best pizza! The crust is amazing - tangy, charred, and crisp. It stands up to the wonderful topping offerings very well. No soggy crust here! It is not your typical pie (though they do have a margarita pie too) and you should get it for bases of comparison. Their salad pizza and white pizza (pizza with a dressed salad on it) are a nice surprise and you should give it a shot. The pepperoni pizza there - you can't just stop eating it and you just want more and more... The mozzarella sticks with Marinara Sauce are just amazing, so soft and tangy...so yummy! And they even have espresso shots if you like. The atmosphere is cozy with lots of old times feel. There are large communal tables and smaller cozy tables. It's also an "open" kitchen place so you can see how they make the pizza right there. Take out is great, but sitting there is where it's at. The staff is always happy and will greet you with a smile on their faces. I recommend this Brooklyn Pizza to any one working there or driving...
Read moreI am genuinely shocked and disappointed by the treatment I received during my visit just a moment ago. I walked in with my bike, intending to grab a quick bite, and found myself completely ignored by the three employees behind the counter. What struck me most was that every white customer in line was promptly greeted and served, while I—someone of Middle Eastern and Latino background—was overlooked entirely. I stood there, clearly visible and waiting to be acknowledged, yet not a single staff member spoke to me or made eye contact until they heard me speak and ask where I was to order. This wasn’t a matter of being busy or overwhelmed. The staff had the time and capacity to assist everyone else—it was as if I was invisible. I’m not someone who’s easy to overlook or dismiss, so the fact that I was blatantly ignored raises serious concerns about bias or discrimination. I’m still trying to understand how this could happen in a place that likely prides itself on great food, customer service and community. This kind of experience is not only disappointing but deeply alienating. I hope this message is taken seriously. No one should ever feel unwelcome or unseen because of...
