My AA Christmas Tree story actually starts off awhile back. I used to bah humbug Christmas so bad people just assumed I was Jewish. For the passed 7 years since my father died I found it pretty difficult to get in the Christmas spirit. But this year was different. My girlfriend of 6 years and I got married in June. So this was our first Xmas as married people, but that alone wasn't enough to give me the bug, it was actually thanks to the Rockettes. After the parade Thanksgiving Day we went and caught the matinee holiday show and it opened my heart again to that which is the magic of Christmas. Anyhow, with myself in the spirit the wife propositioned me to get our very first tree together, contingent up our dog Tela's approval. We called early and asked if we could bring the dog, Arthur abided. At this point we didn't understand that it was a pretty small establishment, but that is hitherto the fact. At first glance you might think this is a fundraiser for Alcoholic's Anonymous- being that the name is AA, you would be sadly mistaken. So if you are caught up on that because you don't want to feel shame about your affinity towards imbibing on strong drink, than cast those fears aside, AA as far as I am concerned, stands for Awesome Awesome Christmas Trees. Because they deserve 2 awesome. We got there and Arthur helped us decide on the tree we needed as well as educated us on quality grades, the specie (which is Frasier Fir, for those of you interested), and proper disposal. Because it wasn't super busy we got to shoot the breeze with Arthur and learn that he's been in the tree biz for 10 years, and does it as a hobby aside from his 9-5. Its easy to understand how he is so successful, the gentleman certainly has a mind for enterprise, and an unbridled passion for delivering high quality xmas trees to his loyal clients. I can't compare this to any other Xmas tree service because sadly, in my 28 hard lived years on planet earth, this is my first experience buying one. Anyhow, he whipped out this immaculate tree, Tela our dog sniffed it, gave a nod of approval, and before you know it was strapped on top of our late model mid-sized sedan like millions of other Americans from coast to coast in the days to come. I love our tree, I loved the service, and I will be going to AA for my Xmas tree until the very last of my New York metro area dwelling days. Merry Christmas everyone! from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTL;DR The tree is not great, kind of lopsided and has sparse branches on one side, but the delivery was on time and it was very easy. Comes out to be a bit on the expensive side, so you're basically paying for the convenience of not going out to pick up your own tree but take a risk on the appearance. Full review below.
We decided to order the tree this year because we had a whole fiasco last year, with people in our area of Manhattan quoting prices of over $400. This year in the beginning of November I searched for well rated places to get delivery and AA Christmas Trees had great reviews. I ordered a 5-6 foot tree, no installation, no stand (we already had one) and it came to ~$150, kind of on the expensive side but I was willing to pay for convenience this year. The delivery went very well, they were right on time and made sure we were home head of time, so that part was perfect, no complaints there.
The height of the tree is about right, but it has a long naked peak on top, that makes it seem a little bald. It is fluffy on one side but the other side has rare branches, so of course it has to face the wall now. You can see this in the photos. We got the tree last week and gave it a week to recover with water to see if it will fluff up, but it really is lopsided on its own and there are parts where you can clearly see the trunk through the branches.
Overall, I'm tempted to say that we may have just gotten unlucky and got a subpar tree. It wasn't so bad that I would have to complain and try to get a replacement but it was a disappointment. Next year I'll be less lazy and just take a trip out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have bought Christmas trees here for the last 4 years. First time was a great experience so we kept coming back (despite it being severely overpriced!). The first tree we ever bought here was incredible, lasted months! This time we bought our tree the day after Christmas (you'd think they'd be on sale too, but nope) and we thought it was a great tree. But it literally drank water once! Ever since then not a drop. It's branches are so droopy at this point I doubt it'll last us until February (we usually keep the tree up until the Lunar New Year). All ornaments are basically WAY lower than where we hung them - I mean it's as if the branches just gave up! The needles are dried up and falling apart. This tree was $100! Cash! Are you serious?? This place is a scam as this is the second year in a row we get a tree that barely lasts and this time was the worst of them all. It barely lasted 2 weeks! Pathetic. Very overpriced. Very...
