Updated: Disappointing Experience at New Win Way
I’ve been a frequent customer at New Win Way, but after today’s experience, I feel compelled to share my disappointment. What was once a go-to spot for takeout has turned into a frustrating ordeal.
First, the service has noticeably declined. During my latest order, I was thrown off when they only offered one size of Beef Chow Fun, even though their menu clearly lists both a pint and a quart. This inconsistency raised red flags.
But it didn’t stop there. This is my second go-around with significant issues; last month, they forgot part of my order and required a redelivery. Today’s delivery was worse. The Seafood Dumplings had a peculiar off taste reminiscent of iodine and were disturbingly rubbery. As for the fried dumplings, they were hard and inedible. It felt like they had all been hastily microwaved, rather than cooked fresh.
To add insult to injury, when I called to voice my concerns, the woman on the phone rudely accused me of wanting free food. I can't believe I was treated this way after being a loyal customer. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes—like forgetting orders or preparing dishes incorrectly (e.g. making a spicy dish when I requested mild)—I felt I was met with defensiveness and bitterness.
It seems that they operate with a vindictive mentality, trying to hold grudges for their past mistakes. After they had to redeliver my meal last month, they seemed determined to price gouge me on the Beef Chow Fun. The service felt petty, almost like they were punishing me for holding them accountable.
Moreover, I've found that the supposed free items based on total spent have been manipulated; prices have been hiked just enough to make it difficult to attain those freebies, and they never mention them when I order. You’d think a restaurant would be eager to promote their offers, but not New Win Way. The attitude is palpable, even over the phone.
What’s more frustrating is that I had initially raised my original one-star review to a glowing five stars simply because I wanted to believe in their ability to improve. Clearly, I was mistaken. My latest meal was far from what I’ve come to expect from a Chinese restaurant. The Beef Chow Fun was overcooked, dry, and rubbery, while the BBQ boneless chicken was dry and tasted off.
I’m officially done with New Win Way. The combination of subpar food, rude staff, and an overall bad experience has pushed me to take my business elsewhere. It’s disappointing to see a restaurant that once held potential fail so dramatically. Save your time and money—New Win Way is...
Read moreLet me explain my rating at length: the food here isn't gourmet quality but it can be much better than the typical neighborhood Chinese fast-food joint if you know what to do: specifically, always order curry for your sauce, as this comes from a store-bought container and not something they whip up themselves: thus ensuring great taste that rivals authentic Indo-Pak fare! Plus, add one or two packets of soy sauce with heaps of the chili oil hot sauce on the table (in the condiment caddy) to their hot and sour soup. Their egg drop soup is fine as-is, along with their shrimp toast, though this can be a bit over-fried, often (but at least it's not five bucks or more like at most places!)...but the prices are good, and sometimes the lady's lovely daughters (yes, both of them!) are on hand to provide, shall we say, a nice...
Read moreThe 2 stars is because my food was ready when they said it would be. I ordered chicken wings in garlic sauce with shrimp fried rice and a small vegetable soup for $15.00. I received multiple small wings chopped in a salty sauce, vegetable fried rice, and a vegetable soup. When I place this same order at different Chinese restaurants, I receive 4 normal size wings chopped. The sauce didn't have any flavor of garlic sauce and the veg. rice (not what I ordered) didn't have any flavor either. When I called about the incorrect rice I received, I was told I have a store credit of $1.50. Normally I don't write reviews but I was dissatisfied and disappointed with my order. If you choose to order from this restaurant, I hope you get a better experience...
