Carvel — Restaurant in New York

I've been coming to thos place for years. Even though we live in Bensonhurst we drive here for an ice cream. However, today I got the worse experience ever. The customer service was horrible. After ordering myself an ice cream, I asked my son i ordered the ice cream for him, and honestly don't remember if I said on a cone or nor. Anyways, she out it on a cup. First, I nicely said he usually gets on a cone, she said that she can just put a cone on top. Which I said even though I didn't tell you why would you decide to give me on a cup. After, suddenly she says "can you place an order from a one person" with an aditute. I was like excuse me?! You're the one who is helping me for an entire time. I asked if there is any problem she got. She started saying that she saw some ice cream near the cashier and thought that it was our ice cream whatever. But then we were there with our entire family of four, so my husband and daughter didn't get to order, she is giving us a total bill. When I said that we are not done yet she got rolled her eyes and literally showing me that she is pissed. Hello?! I'm so disappointed, I didn't come there asking for money. Thats not the right way to treat the customers. I didn't enjoy my ice cream after that kinda treatment and through it away. It was my last visit at this store after 5+ years of being their...

Sooooo...I wasn't too impressed with any Carvel locations in my area, so I ventured on my trusty Yelp app to guide me to the winning location, and you all did not fail me! I placed my order online, and I emailed the photo as instructed. I had seen the many cake photos of happy customers who had customized their cakes, and I was just hoping to be next. I received an email confirming that hey received both my order and my photo, and I prayed to the ice cream cake Gods that my paw patrol cake for my now 4 year old will look atleast half as lovely as I was imagining.

Fast forward to Sunday, my day of pick up, I arrived over an hour earlier than I had indicated I would be in for it, but I figured it was probably done the night before so I wasn't too worried. I don't normally go this far into Queens, but I was impressed at how lively this area was, and I found the shop pretty quickly.

This location was spacious, clean, and they seem to do it all here! When I got there, the employee was helping one customer whom was apparently getting balloons blown up, and I noticed she also had a cake packed up. Nice touch! The worst Carvel I’ve been to yet. After placing my order for a medium ice cream cup, I noticed that there were only two display cups, small and large, which were on the counter which displayed the prices of their sizes. I didn’t think much of it at the time, besides thinking it’s a bit strange that I thought there were three cups on the counter initially, each displaying the size and price of the cups; small, medium and large. After getting home, I ate the ice cream and went to throw out the cup, when I noticed that the bottom had writing on it which said “$5.60 Plus tax Medium” They had given me the display cup that was face down on the counter for who knows how long. It irks me to think of how disgusting it is to have eaten ice cream out of a cup that was exposed to the countertop where many people might place their hands. Ultimately I will never return to this specific Carvel and will go to others that hopefully understand that you don’t serve food in display containers.
