Dr Nunemacher was the vet for my 2 dogs. During a physical exam, she observed a heart murmur and said they both needed Echocardiograms in order to get an accurate diagnosis. After the Echos, one of my dogs was prescribed medication. A day after she started the medication she died suddenly. When told that my dogs needed Echocardiograms at $800 each, I advised Dr Nunemacher that I wanted to check with other places to possibly find a more affordable price (I had just spent thousands on their care but did not want to delay the procedure). I was told it was best to have it done there as others may be cheaper because the test isn’t performed by a Cardiologist and the results may not be accurate. What I wasn’t aware of at the time was that the doctor performing the test there is a traveling Cardiologist. I would never know his name, speak to him personally, or interact with him in any way. All follow-up was with Dr Nunemacher. After I alerted the hospital about the passing of my dog, a part of Dr Nunemacher’s emailed response stated that I should get a 2nd opinion for my other dog and recommended the name of a Cardiologist at another clinic. This hospital also does not give after visit summaries. I had asked a few times while checking out after my appts and was told that it would be emailed to me after the doctor completed entering the visit information; I never receive a single one. They also do not communicate with the front desk when the pet has to be back so the scheduler frequently had to confirm when I said I was told to schedule a follow-up appt. They are however very efficient in the collection of payment. At check out the invoice is ready for me and emailed to me after I pay. After the passing of my dog, I asked the hospital to please send the records for both of my dogs and the case number for reporting her death the medication manufacturer. I did not receive a response for over a month and after sending a follow-up email, I received a call from the Practice Manager who said he couldn’t speak with me regarding any clinical information but wanted to verbally give me the case number from the manufacturer. I requested that they provide ALL the information via email. This was the only call I had with anyone at the hospital after my dog’s passing. I wanted the records because when I had spoken to Dr Nunemacher immediately after their Echos, she told me that if prescribed a tablet, that I would have to cut it in half. When I picked up my dogs, the tech said to give a whole tablet twice a day. I asked them to confirm and even called back again after I left and spoke to the nurse. It is Dr Nunemacher’s position that although my dog had no clinical signs of heart disease, was told not to modify activity level or food, and could have anesthesia for dental work, that she died one day after starting the medication not due to the medication but possibly from a rare, unpredictable event for which they will never know for certain without a necropsy. My other dog also has degenerative heart disease and will need medication someday. I do not want to have to bury another member of my family early. I trusted this hospital and the responses received has served to only complicate and intensify my grief and disrupt the medical care of my pet. I never received a response to my last email requesting a clarification as to why what was prescribed was higher than what was on the manufacturer’s website based on my dog’s weight and also deviated from what I was originally told. If you are a pet owner, you should get written information from your appts. You should question when you are given contradictory information verbally. And most of all, if your pet has a heart condition, it is best to see Cardiologist that you can actually consult with. You should put the care of your pets in the hands of those who want to understand the sudden death of a pet so they can prevent this pain from happening to others if they can.

I have waited quite a while to write this review as I was very emotional about what happened to our puppy Augie. We got our puppy in April of last year. We did everything right, signed up for insurance and immediately made an appointment for a check up. During the check up they told us our puppy looked great, they just kind of touched him around and took a fecal test. That same day our puppy started to get diarrhea. We called and they told us that he had parasites, normal, nothing to be concerned about. We begin the treatment but our puppy does not get better instead he gets worse. He stops eating, vomiting, sleeps all day, and is having bloody stool. We bring him back THREE TIMES in the same week, we are dismissed each time by the vets telling us that he is fine and to keep with the treatment. One of the times, one of the vets, I believe the owner of the establishment came out into the waiting room visibly annoyed with us because we had been there so many times that week and called our puppy "dramatic" as she had given him a shot of anti nausea and he quickly ate. Our poor baby was slowly dying and this vet believed that a shot of anti nausea was all he needed. Shortly after, as our puppy starts getting yellow skin we run to the emergency room at VERG to find out that our puppy that we have had for a little over a week has leptospirosis a deadly disease and has very little chance of survival. Thankfully, VERG quickly referred us to The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in the City and they were able to save our puppies life after almost a month in the hospital where he received dialysis. All creatures could've taken our concerns more seriously, done a blood test way earlier and we could've discovered the leptospirosis sooner and our puppy could've avoided the dialysis and the $25,000 bill. We never received any sort of refund form All Creatures for all of those vet appointments in one week or an apology. We only received an email a month later asking if we wanted a follow up appointment for his shots once they saw our puppies records from AMC that he had survived. Every time we walk by Washington Avenue and see this Vet hospital a wave of sadness goes over us. It was truly so traumatic and we do not recommend bringing your animals to this vet or any "private practice" for that matter. We highly recommend using VERG or AMC for any primary care. Where your concerns will be taken seriously and you will have highly trained individuals who know what they are doing. Lastly, a blood test SHOULD BE STANDARD for a check up. This all could've been avoided with a simple blood test, especially since NYC is currently surging in leptospirosis cases, something All creatures is aware of.

SUPERLATIVE PEOPLE AND PRACTICE: I have two dogs with very different needs and personalities. I've lived in many different places and travel a lot, sometimes with my dogs, so consequently have frequented many different veterinary practices (at least four others in Brooklyn alone). All Creatures does the best job BY FAR at balancing excellence in care, price, warmth of staff, and efficiency, and does an incredible job at putting both humans and animals at ease. Dr. Morgan will present all available options, so that YOU can be fully informed and make educated decisions for your pet and your situation. Everyone has different needs and financial constraints, so what is best for one client is obviously not best for another, and she is sensitive to that. Even though we have been to some very fine practices in small towns, where personal attention is perhaps easier than in a big city, we have received the most personalized and devoted care at All Creatures of any practice. They help with the often confusing maze of pet insurance paperwork, offer acupuncture and laser therapy (among others), do research on weird issues by consulting with other vets, and have even recommended we see another practice for an orthopedic issue. I am surprised and dismayed by the unhappy reviews, and want to address them for any new people who read them and wonder. My thoughts: one of the bad reviews is pretty unintelligible; I would be wary of trusting a vet from another town who can make claims on something as delicate as a possible amputation without reviewing an actual medical chart; care credit is an extra payment option in ADDITION to credit cards; I have never had an issue with any of the receptionists or with the phone system. Yes, they are a very busy practice and are very loyal to their clients, so even if you are having an emergency, it may be impossible for them to just ditch people and pets who have appointments for their own issues that need medical care. And yes, this is not some cut rate "treat-em-and-street-em" kind of place, so it's not the cheapest place you can find. However, I have never felt that their prices are unfair or out of line with practices in this area, and would gladly pay more for the level of education, knowledge, skill, and expertise that is shown at All Creatures.

PLEASE READ AND NEVER EVER CONSIDER THIS VET. Zero stars. Horrible and I'm out about $400 for nothing. I rescued a cat from my yard in the Bronx, she was missing her tail (stump infected) and had an infected deep gash on her leg. I went through someone who does TNR who got a discount, then we decided to adopt her then no more discount (understandable I guess but just because we adopted her doesn't mean that she was no longer a rescue and if I would have known that I would end up paying the same rate I would have gone to my regular vet). They recommended that we don't amputate the tail right off the bat and just give antibiotics and keep bandages on it. I went back every 3-5 days as we were told to get her bandages changed and it was about $100 every time because she was scared of them (understandable) and had to be sedated (the second vet we took her too was capable enough to not have to and saved us a lot of money). Then the third week comes around and they say we need to amputate the tail, de-bride and stitch up the leg wound. I know nothing about animal care so I listened to them the whole time. I never saw her wounds past when we saw her on the streets. They never let us see what was going on under the bandages and were very vague when answering our questions. Amputation and all that costs a bit more than $1,000 so after all that her care would be about $1,500. After they decided she needed her tail amputated and leg done I went searching for other vets who were more affordable and told my story to one in White Plains and he saw pictures from the beginning and said it should have been amputated and taken care of immediately and the care I had at All Creatures was just putting off the inevitable and letting her suffer. Going to this other vet I talked to the owner/actual doctor not just a vet tech, he talked to us with respect and used real terms to explain what was going on and took the time to explain what they meant. We got my cat's bandages changed then they told us we needed to amputate, we waited 2 days longer than recommended to go get her bandages changed/surgery done but her leg and tail were so crazy infected that the second vet was shocked. He said it was definitely infected for more than a week or so and the vets at All Creatures saw it and let us wait it out. All creatures told us that her leg wasn't healing, they didn't say it was severely infected still, we were under the influence that the infection was gone and we were given zero medications to help the infection they knew about. So my thoughts are they were just trying to suck as much money out of the situation as possible before it was absolutely necessary that it be amputated. They did the least amount of work and used zero resources to help her. She was found on the street and they didn't give her a single vaccine, they didn't test for Fel FIV even though they knew from our conversations that we had another cat. If this stray we brought in had Fel FIV that they neglected to check for gave my first cat the disease they would have both died within a year or so (to my understanding of the disease) or have to be put down. She was moping around the house miserable with her bandages on for 3 weeks when she could have had the surgery done and probably been healed by now. I also assume they didn't want to do the surgery right away and give the TNR discount with it.

Only good thing about this place was two nice receptionists I saw and the four cute kittens in the front. This place is far over priced and I felt they did not have my pets best interest at heart. A lot of neglect and I am praying that no one else take their pets here especially if they have a serious illness or injury. I don't know if anyone wants to make the trek but for surgery and more intensive care go to "White Plains Veterinary Hospital" it is THE BEST vet I've been to by far, they are my new regular vet for both my cats, and they really helped me understand what was going on with my cat and talked to me through the whole process (didn't just do the surgery and say here...

You should put the care of your pets in the hands of those who want to understand the sudden death of a pet so they can prevent this pain from happening to others...

This all could've been avoided with a simple blood test, especially since NYC is currently surging in leptospirosis cases, something All creatures...
