After losing the original Egg in Williamsburg during the pandemic, I was super excited to discover that one of my favorite breakfast spots had a second chance via Little Egg. Unfortunately the experience today was truly terrible. The wait staff was not attentive to guests and it took about 7 minutes for someone to realize my table needed menus. I ordered my second favorite dish, Egg Rothko (the biscuit and gravy aren't in this revamped menu) and it was good but anything smothered in cheese generally goes over well. My daughter ordered the two eggs breakfast after realizing pancakes plus add ons would be thirty dollars. I wish I'd taken a photo because her plate was mostly empty, with a palm sized amount of eggs, two very small strips of bacon (my eggs Rothko came with two regular sized bacon strips)and a "hash brown" that looked and ate like a potato croquet. My bigger issue is the service--the wait staff congregated in a corner having personal conversation while three of the five tables in the main dining space sat void of food. There were patrons trying to get their attention for more water, etc (it was hot AF in there) to no avail. The table next to me mentioned twice that there were some bakery items she was waiting on (a scone and something else) and the wait staff was not responsive until it was clear that she was frustrated. The service was altogether slow very very slow. To add insult to injury, the manager sat eating a salad at the bar while there were folk who were waiting to close out their bill and the other waitress had disappeared. All in all, it's a one and done experience for me. Nostalgia did...
Read moreCozy neighborhood breakfast spot. Kind of small, only handful of tables. On Sundays, it seems they have large parties even at 9:30am when we stopped by. Lots of small children. It was a cold rainy and gloomy Sunday and when we walked in at 9:30, we were told there was a ONE HOUR wait! It ended up being more like 15-20 minutes to our pleasant surprise but still kind of a bad start to the experience. There were plenty of bar seats when we put our names down and then again later a few tables that remained empty even while we were finishing our meal.
Little Egg cruller was $7. Strong cardamom flavor was the highlight. Kind of a firm bite and dense. Not sure if I’d try again.
Egg katsu sandwich is $19. Added mushrooms for $3. Yuzu mayo was tasty and interesting. Loved the mix of king oyster and maybe chanterelle mushrooms used. Comes with one small but hefty hash brown. Might get it again but not any time soon. The prices include gratuity since it’s a tip free establishment. Honestly, nearby Stocked has a much cheaper sandwich that’s equally good.
Hibiscus iced tea was $6. Just okay.
I might come again if someone insists, but a simple breakfast came to $70 for two, not sure if this an everyday...
Read moreThis was quite honestly the worst breakfast place I’ve been to in a while. My friend and I ordered French toast, pancakes, hash browns, chai, a cappuccino & eggs. The French toast was soggy and so soft inside, it was like eating French bread pudding. The egg was such a little amount - (must have used just one egg) - and tasteless - no seasoning or salt. The chai was like drinking watered down milk. And when I tried my friend’s cappuccino who grimaced when he tasted it, I kid you not, it tasted like soap. I think they didn’t fully wash the cup - not to mention it was terribly bitter. My friend asked me “How do they even mess up a cappuccino”. I’m guessing the chef had it out for the owner because this was quite honestly a horrible breakfast place. The entire time my friend and I were laughing at just how bad the food was. To their credit, the pancakes and hash brown, that was in the shape of a potato interestingly enough, tasted nice. We at least enjoyed that. But the next time we went for breakfast we deliberately went to an entirely different one to wipe away the soapy memory from our minds and replace it with a...
