I'd thought about doing a boudoir photo shoot many times before but for various reasons (mostly body image issues), I never did. I'd had a friend that did one who tried to assure me that I shouldn't worry about my body, but I still did. Years after having this conversation with this friend, I decided that I wanted to do a boudoir photo shoot for my upcoming 5th wedding anniversary.
I did a google search for boudoir photographers and knew that Nomi was the photographer I wanted to work with right away. I've always done client centered work and value very much someone who cares about the client. I could tell by the reviews and comments that Nomi received (as well as her responses) that she cared very much about the client experience. I called and booked the photo shoot and was so thankful to Nomi for taking me through the entire process in an easy and fun way and answering all of my questions. I was reassured that I made the right decision because of her energy and her professionalism.
The day of the photo shoot, Nomi and I got to chat about how she started doing her work and she was also very interested in my work. Her casual conversation and genuine interest in me made any nerves I had quickly go away. The photo shoot, in a word, ended up being fun and I was blown away by the pictures. I talked about body image issues before and they were probably worse now after becoming a mother. Nomi did a great job of highlighting parts of my body that I felt best about and helping me to feel more comfortable about those that I didn't feel so great about.
In the end, I left this photo shoot with a better overall feeling about myself. I received numerous compliments that day after being dolled up by Jenn, Nomi's makeup artist, and I was floating on cloud 9. As a newish mom, it's very easy to lose yourself and doing this photo shoot was a step in the right direction towards finding my old self and doing more of the things that I love doing for me. I started off wanting to do the photo shoot for my anniversary, but in the end, I'm happy I did it for myself. I now have a somewhat better perception of my body than I did before but even more important, doing this has made me more aware of the importance of working towards one. I would easily do it again and recommend that every woman (whether a mother or not) do a boudoir photo shoot at some point in...
Read moreMy friends from North Carolina mentioned doing a boudoir shoot for their fiancés as a wedding gift and it got me thinking. I went onto google and did some research that’s how I found Nomi. She contacted me right away and made me feel so comfortable over the phone - I booked. Like most people there’s always something you want to change about your body but she explained to me that she captures your body in such a way that I had nothing to worry about. A few days before she emailed me confirming our appointment (which I appreciate because I love me some organization). When I arrived at the studio she sat with my friend and I (which I really didn’t need to bring her because Nomi became my BFFL by the end of the shoot) and got to know me. Throughout my hair and makeup (which came out fabulous - I was obsessed) Nomi sat there chit chatting making me even more comfortable. You can tell she loves what she does and really cares about her clients. She offered me Prosecco, additional lingerie from her collection, and really did a fabulous job of hosting me and my friend in her studio. During the actual shoot she would demonstrate poses, help you get into them, and made me so comfortable (I thought I was going to feel stupid but I felt so beautiful throughout the whole thing). After we were done she goes through the pictures and then together we selected the ones I wanted digitally/for my album. One thing I really loved was that she made sure to select my best ones (even though I tried to see others) she wanted to me feel beautiful and not dwell on one shoot that wasn’t my best. Since doing my shoot I received my digitals and my preview to the album (which I will be getting in the next week). I am obsessed with every shoot! Initially I did this for my fiancé but to be honest it was a selfish gift because I felt like a queen that day and these photos will be such a treasure to look back on. Boudoir is a special type of photography and I found Nomi to be a good price for my package. So to summarize, if you’re looking to do boudoir...
Read moreI have been a cancer patient for almost 3 years and went through a traumatic heartbreak this past year, plus add on everything else and I just needed a time and a space for real healing. My experience with Nomi and even just looking at the photos has done exactly that.
From the very first phone call, I could feel a connection with Nomi's energy. I felt comfortable and loved and even more sure that she was the perfect person to work with. When the day of the shoot arrived, the butterflies in my stomach flew away the moment I walked into the studio. It has such a light and warm atmosphere - from the gorgeous natural lighting to the music playing - and I felt so welcome by Nomi and her team. While getting my makeup and hair done, I enjoyed the natural conversation that flowed between us all and Nomi does everything to ensure you are comfortable. I had never been someone comfortable showing skin or even feeling comfortable in my body, but this experience has shown me otherwise. I entered feeling amazing. I left feeling even better.
I have had a lot on my plate and a long bout of depression, but seeing Nomi's work (not just photos of me, although I freaking love my photos) all of Nomi's work has really help to ground and remind me of all the beautiful things our bodies have to offer. The experience is so empowering and I am forever grateful for Nomi and her team empowering all us strong, badass women. I cannot wait to work with Nomi again as soon as I can.
There's so much to say, but I'll end with this - Go and do the...
