Bleu Ciel Hair Salon — Local services in New York

My experience at this Salon was by far the worst experience I have ever encountered. I work in the neighborhood and walked in a week before because I saw a sign on the door of the salon stating they were offering balayage for $150. When I walked in I spoke to the a lovely lady by the name of Diane. I explained I was Interested in the balayage special post on the door. She took me over to one of there hair colorist Patrick who convinced me he could do to my hair what I wanted. The next day Patrick contacted me via phone and asked for pictures of my hair and pictures of similar looks I wanted. I sent Patrick all of the pictures he asked for and, he followed up with another phone conversation assuring me he could get me the look I wanted for the special price advertised. 4 days prior to my appointment I called the Salon and spoke to Jonathan the receptionist and changed my appointment time to 4:45 and was told it was not a problem. I decided to book my appointment on my actual birthday at 3:30pmbecause I wanted it to be as fresh as possible for my birthday dinner. On the day of my scheduled appointment I received a call from Diane informing me that Patrick did not show up to work and she hasn’t heard from him. She informed me that unfortunately he could not do my hair. She also had no knowledge of my appointment time being changed to 4:45pm she still had it down for 3:30. She informed me that she had another colorist(Aelena) who was willing to do my hair however she needed me there by 3:30 or 4 the latest and that’s the best they can do. Although this was very disappointing I made Accommodations to leave work early to get there at 3:30pm . When I arrived Jonathan the receptionist was at the front desk. I took that opportunity to ask him why he never changed my appointment time to 4:45 as we agreed. He matter-of-factly stated “he forgot”. Shortly after I was informed Aelena was on lunch and had to be called. I was given the phone to speak to Aelena who stated she needed 15 mins to finish her lunch. I found this unprofessional but still agreed to wait. When Aelena finally arrived she consulted my hair and let me know it would be way more the the special price and also that she didn’t think the look I wanted was achievable. She mentioned Patrick the colorist who originally was suppose to do my hair didn’t know what he was talking about. At this point I was so turned off with everything. I walked out and did not get any services at this salon. I must say Diane the office manager was beyond nice and tried her best to rectify the situation, unfortunately with no success. I always have the pleasure of visiting Blue Ciel Hair Salon and had the most amazing experience with my hair stylist, Shakira. From start to finish, Shakira provided top-notch service that truly exceeded my expectations. Not only is she incredibly talented at her craft, but her attention to detail is unmatched. Shakira took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and executed it flawlessly. She was also amazing with my kid who was very stubborn in getting a hair cut.

Decided to check this place out because my usual salon closed down and it had great reviews. I was surprised when the salon was almost empty, and few customers came in during the 4 hours I was there. The hairdresser was very nice and turned down the music in the salon when I asked her politely to, but it got loud again a few times and I had to ask her again. I asked for partial highlights in a warm blonde color, similar to what I had but had grown out. She showed me a picture of a lady with honey blonde hair and I told her that’s the color I wanted. Imagine my surprise when my highlights came out ashy blonde, even with toner. When she was giving me a blowout after the cut, I asked her to make my hair more straight instead of wavy/curly, and she said she couldn’t because she had already done it on that side, but made the other side straighter. So I left the salon will wavy hair on one side and straight on the other and had to try to fix it myself at home.
