When I heard about an old fashion bakery with 100 years of history, I had to many my trip up to Upper East Side. It still has its loyal customers from decades ago, and still being named one of the best bakeries in the city. The inside was not set up as an eat-in place, but we were not planning to eat there anyways, so its ok. The inside was well lit with warm yellow tone on the walls. As soon as I walked in, I was hugged by the cozy aroma of bread. They had all sorts of amazing looking baked goods, baguettes, and everything else you could think of at an amazing bakery. They offer fresh baked bread that are baked daily, as well as cookies, donuts, strudels, and more! They have jelly filled doughnuts that they fill it right there when you order it! Super fresh way to get jam filled doughnuts! The piping instrument were all lined up by the wall, and you pick which kind of doughnut – chocolate glazed or sugar doughnut – and filling type. I got several kinds of doughnuts with different fillings, and also black and white cookies. They were all really good, loved the cookies! One of the best black and white cookies ever! I will be sure to go back for more sweet goodness in the near future... Read my full review of this bakery and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

People who visit quality businesses in NYC and complain about lines and items being sold out late in the day should honestly be banned from being able to review places. Like, what did you expect?! Orwashers is an amazing bakery. We tried their salmon & dill cream cheese breakfast sandwich, chocolate almond croissant, multigrain bread, seeded rye bread, mini black & whites, and all three flavors of rugelach. Everything was very good, and the only thing that I thought was priced a bit high for what it was was the small boxes of rugelach that were over $12. Then again it's quality ingredients and there is a bit of effort that goes into making it so I'm honestly still going to come back and buy them 🤷‍♀️ And there's also a million other things i saw that I wanted to get but...til next time. The one annoying thing was that i did have to remind the cashier that I was still missing items from my order, but i did order a lot and it was early in the day. But just make sure you pay attention, and they'll take care of you.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am only writing this because of the ongoing problems I have had regarding this business. Nothing has changed despite repeated attempts at giving this place all the space and opportunity needed to rectify their internal issues and their services only seems to get worse not better. They are by far.... The most unprofessional staff on the upper east side.

Firstly, every single time I place an online order, I have items missing from my order that I must go back and retrieve or receive a refund for the missing items. Every...single...time.

The incident in particular that I want to reference included me coming to pick up my online order, per usual. I wasn't greeted at first and then a tall, brown skinned lady rudely asked "can I help you?" She seemed exasperated and annoyed. I gave my order number and name and to no surprise, they had not fulfilled my order yet so I had to stand there and wait for 2 employees to fulfill my order in the rudest way possible. It seemed as if I was inconveniencing them. They were 2 Spanish speaking employees, one tall and one shorter, both female. They seemed agitated with the internal issues of the company as I overheard bits and pieces of the conversation while they frustratedly packaged my order.

The ignorance of thinking that just because a person isn't of Spanish descent means that they can't speak or understand Spanish was ignorant of these 2 employees. Not to mention, they were switching back and forth in the English Language as well, so I pretty much understood the whole conversation. Bits and pieces of the unprofessional conversation:

  1. The new manager isn't equipped to run the store efficiently.
  2. The employees are lazy. (I hope they were the employees they were referencing, I shudder to think there are others just like them.
  3. They somehow don't like the hours of the store or maybe it is their work hours that they were complaining about.
  4. Something about downstairs, bad.
  5. And something else about the management, which was also bad My order was fulfilled and pretty much thrown to me by the short Hispanic woman without a "have a good day" or "thank you for your services." I just don't want to keep giving my repeated business to a company that does not care how their employees behave in front of the patrons. It's humiliating for the morale of the business. Whom you allow to represent your business and your team matters and Orwashers needs to do some serious clean up.

The quality of the services must have seeped into the pastries because my raspberry buns were hard, my oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies looked burned and my croissants were more brown than usual.

I don't know what's going on...

I was extremely sad to see the store manager on the shift of Sat morning 3/30 push aside an older patron because he was taking his time. He asked if everything in the receipt was in the bag, she assured him that it was and send him away while asking the next customer for their order over his shoulder. She was extremely rude.

The BEST part is this. The Manager then realized, the customer left part of his order on the counter and she told one of the store clerks “oh look! The old guy left this!”

The Manager called the customer “the old guy” out loud in front of everyone.

All I’m asking is a bit more of respect for your customers especially those who need more time at the counter. If this is a holiday season, your other patrons can wait, and you are over staffed, you can handle it. These patrons are the reason you have been surviving in the business all these years. But get this, it probably took a lot of effort for this person to leave the house to come to your establishment and maybe he doesn’t have someone to help him collect the package he left behind. You need to put the customer you have in front of you first before you move on the next one.

These incidents are NEVER isolated. If it happened once I’m sure it’s happening to other people. Please respect...
