I went in looking to try out one of the little yamaha amps they had listed on the site. It was nice but one of the Brians suggested I try another amp they had in the shop, a used VHT special 6. It turned out to be everything I’ve ever wanted from an amp, without me saying what I was looking for. I’m not even mad about the upsell because it’s 100% perfect. I left to think about it and came back later and the other Brian was just as helpful and friendly.
I’ve been frequenting guitar stores since I was a teenager and it’s almost always a disappointing experience one way or another—going into guitar stores as not a straight cis white guy, I’ve usually been ignored, condescended to, hit on, or all three in one go. This was the exact opposite experience. Everyone I talked to was awesome and I’m already planning on bringing my sister by when she’s in town.
This shop is fantastic. Everything about it is exactly the opposite of Guitar Center - they have a small but excellent selection of instruments, every inch of the space is full of beautiful guitars, pianos, and organs in various states of repair, the sales team is friendly and knowledgeable but not pushy. It’s exactly the ambience you hope to find from a guitar shop. I’ll definitely be bringing my guitars in for repairs, and I expect they’ll be...
Read moreBrooklyn Fine Guitars is hands down one of the best luthiers in Brooklyn! Their expertise is truly magical.
After a friend recommended Brooklyn Fine Guitars, I found myself in a bind as my regular luthier was fully booked with a waitlist spanning over a month. That's when I decided to give this place a shot. I had recently acquired a 1980 Fender Strat that needed some tender loving care. The volume pot was scratchy, the action was higher than I preferred, and the string gauges were lighter than I liked. In short, I wasn't thrilled with the guitar's overall performance. However, I remained hopeful that a skilled setup could work wonders.
Walking in without an appointment on a Saturday, I was relieved to be greeted warmly. To my surprise, on Monday, Jon emailed me to confirm the work he was planning to do. His attention to detail and informative approach impressed me. Just a couple of days later, my guitar was ready.
I cannot emphasize enough how perfect the work Jon did was. Not only did he complete the job incredibly fast, but he also kept me well-informed throughout the process. The difference he made in the sound of my guitar is nothing short of amazing! I love this guitar now!
Thanks Jon! And the entire team at Brooklyn Fine Guitars for their exceptional craftsmanship...
Read moreThis place is amazing. What more can I say? I had been in-and-out of the store a few times window shopping when I got my electric set up (which they did an amazing job of, too) and was checking out some of the steel-string acoustics... I decided it was time and recently went back to purchase a Recording King I had my eye on. Plot twist: I tried the Recording King and LOVED IT, but still had a ton of questions, especially after picking up the Guild M-120. Brian came out and patiently hung out with me, outlining the specs for each guitar as I was trying to decide, lending his insights and professional opinions about each. Well, I ended up walking out with the Guild as you can see and I am just over the moon with this guitar. Especially when he said Nick Drake played the same type of guitar... Then they were getting it ready to go and his co-worker was like "Oh the Nick Drake guitar, NICE!" and I left the store with a big smile. Thanks so much Brian, and staff for matching me up with...
