Open arriving at the rehab center I found it to be quaint and approachable. The security did a great job. Unfortunately, that was the end of it. I visited a very good friend, who in my opinion does not deserve the treatment he gets there. The room was filled with excessive garbage. Food trays were piled up from lunchtime. I was there from 6 to 9 PM. I personally emptied one dozen water bottles in the hallway along with trays of food, which was there since noon and dinner. There was No one to help him brush his teeth, so I had to assist in that. The bag from the IV was on the floor along with some kind of empty syringe. For me that is unacceptable. I complained to the front desk when I first went in a nice manner, the front desk clean they would send help however they never did. I even asked how was the normal service and my friend explained it was terrible every day. He explained how he rings a bell and no one ever comes. They just simply say yes. I cleaned the room myself by putting all the trays in the hallway, so the front desk could see. I had requested help twice and made an official complaint when I left. I felt sorry for my friend. This is such a good person and does not deserve this treatment. After leaving, it made me think and hope that I would never want to be admitted into a place like this. I would not recommend this recovery center not even for my dog, of which I do not have. People should think why they want to be in the healthcare business because these profession need a lot...
Read moreThis review is to thank each and every employee at Chapin. My mother came to Chapin June 1, 2017 and passed away on March 8, 2019. There are not enough words to describe the compassion, kindness, empathy and love the staff showed both me and my mother. I always said that everyone there has wings on their shoulders. Mommy was in good hands, and every time I went home I felt secure in knowing she was safe. The doctors and nurses are wonderful. The home emphasizes an environment filled with activities, as well as entertainment for the residents. There is always something going on to give the residents a sense of purpose and just to have fun. In the Summer, you can sit outside, enjoy the birds, the trees, the sun. The back patio is lovely with a fish pond, tables and chairs where you can have lunch, listen to music and just enjoy the environment. My mother had late stage dementia, and many times I would leave in tears as I watched this ever changing disease take away my mother. There was always someone there to give me a hug or a shoulder. I am so grateful that I found Chapin Home for the Aging. As much as I wish that my mother never got this horrible disease, as I was the one and only caregiver, I am left with the comfort in knowing that she left this world in a place filled with love. God bless every one at Chapin Home...
Read moreMy mother was here for 3 months and compared to other rehab facilities, the place is pretty good with respect to rehab however, the head social worker, Judith is absolutely the worst. She tried to manipulate the system into keeping my mother there for financial gain. I had to get my lawyer involved to get my mother released and even though my mother had been on oxygen 24/7, Judith never put the proper paperwork in so I paid to have mother released with it. Nurses and aides overall were good and rehab excellent but be careful when dealing with the system and if feel something isn’t right go with your gut. I fought the system and won but I’m sure others don’t know to fight what’s being told to them. Judith was downright rude and...
