Avenita Diner — Restaurant in New York

I've waited 2 hours for my food to be delivered to me when the diner is only 7 minutes away from my house. I called and ordered my food at 10:00am, I paid over the phone. Around 11am my husband called to see how long would it take. A lady name Alice said “hold on let me see, the guy should be there in a few minutes.” after 30/40 minutes went by I called and was very upset, I am pregnant its been almost 2 hours and still we didn't get our food. That's when Alice said “oh they never made the order. The ticket been sitting in the kicten” like EXCUSE ME?! Then she said yes it usually takes 45 minutes to a hour for delivery. So I said but its been almost TWO HOURS and my food was NEVER made. This is the worst. Pregnant and started to feel sick waiting so long by the time the food came I was over it. Diner food typically has a huge menu and while it may not be the most original or best “tasting” food, the ambiance and coziness of a diner is half the magic. With that said, Avenitas is one of the best kept secrets as far as diners go in queens. The service is impeccable with such friendly staff, and an interior which screams hangout with family or friends. The food also holds up, the portions are very generous, with taste depending on what you order I think. Some of the appetizers and sides are definitely refried, but they still tasted very good. I used to LOVE coming here after work on Saturdays to unwind. Their service & coffee are quite good. I removed stars because lately it seems the cook doesn’t know how to make a fluffy pancake. I was astonished with my take out order. They were flat and unappealing. I figured that anyone could have an off day so a few weeks later I placed another order-same result. Don’t get me wrong, the flavor & texture were ok but who wants a paper thin pancake??? I didn’t order crepes!!! Also, they don’t seem to be following the Covid protocols for social distancing.
