Haven’t been to this Filipino market/turoturo on parson Blvd for years. Love the transformation. The whole space has been elevated. There’s seating up front, a baked goods section, a variety of Filipino market goods and a small space at the back with a couple more tables. It has a warm industrial feel with with faux exposed brick walls, distressed wooden tables & benches with accents of steel pipes. Each table has its own digital turoturo ordering device. Which made it super easy to order and customize your dishes. Love that they give you the option to add on dishes to your order so you can try other small dishes at a reasonable price. They’re a 10% gratuity tacked on plus you can add more if you’d like.
The pork tosilog had a side of green mango salsa. 1/3 of the dish was fatty which was expected. But I always prefer it to be more lean. The tapsilog was nice and tender. A bit more sour than normal which meant you didn’t have to add too much suka. Arroz caldo had a nice gingery chicken sabao based porridge with a full size hard boiled egg. The bulalo was so flavorful. They packed the bowl with meat and veggies along with soup. The lumpia Shanghai was really fresh. Crispy on the outside and meat was tender compared to the frozen ones that are hard and dry. Sad they didn’t have halo halo. The flan was just subpar. It had a strange granulated surface that seems like it should have been torched. Thick and smooth but missing that velvety creamy touch. Keurig coffee was flat, dark and bland. Quick easy bite and pretty satisfying. Just missing some of our go to faves like pork sisig , turon, melon. Maybe they’ll have it once it gets warmer? It’s...
Read moreI couldn't believe I never knew about this wonderful place that was only a 6 minutes drive from my partner's home until today. There is a grocery store on one side, a bakery section in the front and restaurant in the back. I ordered 2 breakfasts to go. Each came with a free coffee. While I waited for the order, I browsed the pastries racks. All the baked goods and desserts looked wonderful. I bought a pack of ube buns.
Onto the food: The eggs of both breakfast platters were cooked perfectly. The garlic fried rice (under the eggs) was delicious. The beef was tasty but dry like beef jerky. I guess it's supposed to be so. The pork however was both delicious and moist. The portions of the platters were huge. Prices were very reasonable too.
I definitely plan to return to try lunch entries.
The cashier was very friendly.
After my first visit and initial review, I returned 3 more times. 4 visits in 4 weekends! I again ordered breakfast to go for my second visit. For my 3rd and 4th visits, I dined in with a few friends. The various meals for one, appetizers and desserts were absolutely perfect! Pork adobo was definitely our favorite. When I walked in last night for my 4th visit, one of the employees greeted me and called out my name. She...
Read moreFood here was great! It was a very cozy spot and the actual place was half a grocery store with Filipino foods/essentials and a restaurant in the back. The staff were super nice and accommodating. We were seated and we order via this iPad. I loved this because as someone who has not really had a chance to try a lot of Filipino food, I was able to see pictures and descriptions of the menu. We decided to go with some breakfast items and my fiancé ordered the to-si-log (pork) and I ordered the corn-si-log. Everything came out pretty quick and it was super delicious! I love having savory/rice dishes for breakfast so this was right up my alley. There were so many other dishes we wanted to try such as the chicken bbq, chicken Adobo, beef pare, spaghetti, and more. We will definitely be coming back here...
