First and foremost, I am pro small business. Especially such an iconic store like Chelsea guitars. I had planned to make a trip to the store in order to trade one of my strats to hopefully discount a much more expensive guitar. I saw that the store had a Guild x-170 so I had my target in sight. I thought going on a reconnaissance run before I pulled the trigger would be a good idea for such a large investment $2500 to be exact.
I was initially greeted and I got my hands on the Guild. I played it and it was wonderful. I thought another guitar on the wall was interesting and asked to play it. To which the gentleman working there said "If you're just trying out guitars if a customer comes in im going to have to ask you to leave, I don't have the space".
I understand that the store is small but I don't appreciate the insinuation that I wasn't there to purchase an instrument. I understand that there's money to be made YadaYada, however, not everyone gets the chance to play vintage instruments, and I don't appreciate being looked at as some kid that just wants to play the guitars and not a legitimate customer.

Read moreone of the worst experiences ever in buying a product of any kind. they sold me a messed up instrument. they wouldn't give me my money back and they wouldn't let me return the instrument for a warranty replacement. They kept giving me the run around. there was allot of stress and getting treated like crap. I called the instrument maker and they immediately sent a pre paid package to return my instrument for a warranty replacement. I had brought the instrument to a legit guitar repair place. they told me i wasn't crazy and helped me get the warranty replacement. they did it for no financial gain. They had to take care of Dan's irresponsible and nearly fraudulent behavior. All this took a few weeks. I got so much bull crap from these guys..even some physical intimidation. They must be going out of business or something. I know they had to move to a shoe box sized place and upon looking around at the instruments they had, the stock was filled out with obviously broken instruments. I don't know how they are still there. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! it's not worth it, there's no accountability..let...
Read moreA great small, local, guitar shop with a wonderfully varied selection of vintage electric and acoustic instruments, and some amplification. Prices range from surprisingly affordable for gig-appropriate "player" instruments, to what you might expect to pay for the rare, truly collectable, stuff. The staff are helpful, but don't push you to purchase. They also have a few new guitars available that were priced surprisingly well for their quality and playability. All the guitars are expertly set up by hand at the shop and are ready to show you what that vintage vibe...
