I have to warn you it will be a long review so whoever doesnât have patience scroll down đ. After researching we decided to go with Children of America and we donât regret. My son was 20 months when he started the daycare and he was under the care of Miss Erika, Sofia, Laura. Let me just tell you that they are the most kind and carrying teachers you would ever want for your child. They love every child and they are just super nice. Miss Lori is not only the director, she is your friend. She spends time with you every time you have a question or concern. When we started going to the center, she was the assistant director and then she was promoted and I saw that coming! She is a peopleâs person!!!! A big shout out to miss Valerie who is very kind and nice as well. So is miss Vanessa at the front desk. Every question you have, they are always there to help, by either email, phone, or in person. The facility itself is very safe. No one can pick up your child, unless the center is notified ahead of time. The best part is that there are cameras in every room and you can see what your child is doing LIVE!!!!. Now my son is in Miss Rosalieâs and Carlaâs class. Both teachers are always smiling and loving. My son doesnât cry when he is dropped off, and if he is, itâs not because he doesnât like the place, or teachers, but because he wants to be with me. My son was always a social child, but now he advanced so much. He is 2 and sings the whole ABC song, counts to at least 17 that I heard of, knows all colors, knows his name and the name of other children in the class, knows animals, etc. The list can go on and on. I give a lot of credit to the daycare. We speak 3 languages at home and my son talks very well! I have seen younger children in his class that speak even better. I can tell you that they do many activities there like free play, centered play, books, coloring, painting, pretend play etc⌠They have a great indoor play area with a slide, riding toys, etc. They also have an amazing outdoor playground which is divided according to childrenâs age. In the summer they do more extra activities, like splashing with water outside. They had the zoo come to the daycare which was fun for children. The biggest issue I have with the daycare is the food. It isnât freshly made, nor it is catered from a company who would make it fresh every day. It is frozen food, yes frozen! There are hot dogs, ham, chicken nuggets, fish sticks on the menu. Feel free to check the menu out online. If you see fruits and vegetables on the menu, donât think they are fresh, they are all canned or frozen⌠So sad that such a great daycare doesnât have good food. There is a big trend to try to feed children healthy food and I would think that a daycare like this would accommodate that, but it doesnât. We give food from home almost every day, except for the days they serve pizza. However, if you decide to go with their food they can substitute some days with something like a cheese sandwich or bagel with cream cheese. And of course, the daycare isnât cheap at all. Like I said I compared many daycares, I found some that are much cheaper, others that are a bit more expensive but had better food. After prioritizing everything we decided to enroll our son here. Children of America is not only a daycare, it is your family. I truly think of them this way. They have put up with me and my crazy concerns and ideas and not once did I feel that they didnât care!!!! I tell them: âI am THAT parent, but you will always have one of thoseâŚâ They laugh and donât give me a problem at all when I call to remind them to put the hat or sweater on my son before going outside although he probably already had them on⌠My son loves the daycare, so do we!!!! I recommend the place to everyone I know who lives in the area and are looking for a daycare. Thank you, Children of America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please change the food and you will be even more perfect!!!!! PS: Sorry Children of America, I had to mention the food; but I still...
Read moreOur decision to trust Children of America with our childcare was as hasty as our decision to move to Jackson Heights. And like that life-changing decision, the speed with which we made our choice turned out for the best. We only saw one other facility, and met with one nanny before pulling the trigger.
Driven by an emergency need for childcare, we had to move quickly â which CoA was happy to accommodate. But even if we had all the time in the world, I wouldnât change a thing about the decision. We were coming from an excellent nanny share in LIC, that our son had been accustomed to since he was four months old. Heâs three years old now, and although I miss the warmth (and convenience) of our nanny, the transition to a daycare setting has been surprisingly pleasant. Largely thanks to the excellence of CoA.
The facility is clean, safe, modern, and extremely well-appointed. The indoor and outdoor playgrounds were a huge selling point for us, as well as the kindness exhibited by the staff, especially the Associate Director, Ms. Lori. From day one she was warm, welcoming, and above all else, understanding of our familyâs dual-working parent dynamic. Early dropoffs. Late pickups. Whatever it is, they get that people work. That flexibility and understanding was the X-factor that we needed to sign on the dotted line.
We love the activities they do. The outside time. The photo updates throughout the day. The live camera feeds via Always Close By. We couldnât have asked for a better situation to follow our excellent nanny. The only hangup is the food, which is what youâd expect from a corporate daycare, unfortunately. Thatâs one thing I wish was different. My son is generally really good with food, having exposed him to various textures and tastes early on. But he doesnât really eat the lunch at CoA. So we had to get a doctorâs note allowing home cooked food. I advise CoA to empower location directors with the flexibility to contract a local caterer to prepare daily meals (i.e Red Rabbit).
All-in-all, we love this daycare, and would choose them every time if faced with...
Read moreChildren of America - Jackson Heights has exceeded our expectations! My son was not even born when we started searching for a daycare for him. Iâm very picky, super cautious and overly concerned when it comes to things like this. We went to a few daycare's and we never felt 100% sold/confident the places we visited. There was just something about majority of these daycare's that we didnât feel a friendly vibe from. I was looking for a place that would care for our son as if he was their own. After searching and not feeling happy with any of the daycare's, we decided to check out Children of America which is actually in our neighborhood! My first visit there was with Lori at the front desk. She is soooo amazing and just so down to earth. She made us feel so welcoming and answered all of our questions/concerns. We visited the newborn room then as well and liked the interaction we saw with the caretakers and the infants. We reserved a spot and decided to return once the baby was born. Once our baby was born we came to the center about 2-3 times and spent some time there. Primarily, we spent time with Lara and Jasmin. They were so great with the babies and made me feel so comfortable that I was able to sleep at night knowing he was going to be in great hands. Our baby started daycare at the center at 2 1/2 months! I also have access to the camera which I can access whenever I want and they always send me pictures during the day! Recently there have been other amazing caretakers at the center as well - Angela, Sumiyah which are one of many amazing people! Our son is so happy to come to this daycare - he gets really happy and excited once I enter the facility! I would recommend this facility to anyone and everyone!!! Our son is now 6.5 months and we hope to continue to have him stay here!! In conclusion, they are trustworthy and caring! 5 star...
